Emmerdale actress Michelle Hardwick recently went to the hospital because of a painful and swollen eye, and she shared a picture of her injury with fans.
The 50-year-old soap opera actress, known for her role as Vanessa Woodfield on ITV, said she rushed to the emergency room on Sunday because she was worried about her eye.
Michelle said she went to the hospital on Sunday because she’d scratched her cornea – the clear outer layer of the eye – the night before.
On Tuesday, Michelle shared a selfie on Instagram Stories revealing a red and swollen left eye, and asked if anyone else had ever experienced a scratched cornea.
‘This happened Saturday night… little trip to A+E Sunday morning to be checked over.’
The actor expressed gratitude to the incredible NHS staff who treated their injury and will be using antibiotic cream for the next five days to help it heal.
I’m really hoping Michelle’s eye gets better on its own! She’s due back at work on Emmerdale on Friday, and I’d hate to see her injury cause a lot of drama when she gets back. It would be awful if it threw everything into chaos!
Following an injury over the Easter weekend, EastEnders is likely facing some script changes. Michelle Collins, who plays Cindy Beale, injured her leg and is currently using crutches and a brace, meaning scenes featuring her will need to be reworked.
The beloved soap star was taken to The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn after injuring herself while preventing her dog, Peggy, from running away at a friend’s home. As a result, she will be unable to walk for some time.
On Monday, she posted photos to Instagram showing herself in the hospital and her right leg in a cast. She included the hashtags #thanks, and tags for The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, NHS Norfolk and Waveney CCG, and King’s Lynn Town.
I tripped and fell while trying to prevent a friend’s dog, Peggy, from running out the door during a visit to Norfolk. I hurt my knee and have some cuts and bruises.
The actress then lauded the medical staff for their care.
She added that the staff were fantastic – efficient and kind, even though the hospital wasn’t highly ranked. You would never have guessed that from the excellent care she received.
It feels unfair to criticize the hospital’s atmosphere, especially when a nurse pointed it out. Wishing everyone a Happy Easter!
Michelle mentioned EastEnders in her post, saying she’ll need scenes where she’s sitting down this week!
Last month, Michaelle had to cancel her appearance at a FanFushionUK event at Heathrow Airport, along with Vicky Myers, who is known for her role as Lisa Myers on the television show Coronation Street.
Fans of Coronation Street and Emmerdale lost a significant amount of money when two actors cancelled their appearance at a fan event, reportedly due to a contract dispute.
People paid as much as £1000 for tickets to the completely sold-out event, hoping to get autographs and photos with the actors they admire from their favorite soap opera.
However on Friday both Vicky and Michelle confirmed they would no longer be attending the event.
The two individuals claim their employers broke their agreement, but the employers say they only found out about the individuals’ decision through social media.
Vicky announced on X (formerly Twitter) that she and Michelle Hardwick won’t be able to attend the FanFusion event this weekend because the event organizers didn’t fulfill their contractual obligations.
‘We are incredibly disappointed, as we were very much looking forward to meeting you all.
We’ve tried everything we can to fix the problem, but unfortunately, it’s something we can’t resolve ourselves, so we have to stop our efforts.
We’re so sorry and sending our love and best wishes to all our wonderful fans. For any questions about refunds, please contact FanFusion. – Vicky
FanfusionUK responded with a statement to attendees, explaining they only found out Vicky and Michelle wouldn’t be there after seeing their announcements online.
We’re sorry to share that Vicky Myers and Michelle Hardwick will no longer be able to attend FanFusionUK this weekend.
We weren’t informed about this update directly and only found out about it when the fans did.
We know this news might be upsetting and cause frustration, and we understand you may be hearing rumors or speculation.
Even with these challenges, we’re still dedicated to making sure you have a great weekend, and we’re looking forward to welcoming the five guests who will be joining us.
We just received this information and are still reviewing it. Please bear with us while we figure out the best way to move forward.
The cancellation felt especially sudden because life-sized photos of Vicky were still set up for fans to take pictures with at the event location.
This left many fans with substantial financial losses, and some had even traveled from as far away as Australia and Canada.
The event was quite expensive, with tickets ranging from £150 to £1,000. If you wanted a photo with Michelle or Vicky, that cost between £35 and £45 extra.
Michelle was selling autographs for £35 each, with a limit of ten words. She was also hosting meet-and-greet events, and tickets cost £90.
Fans reacted with disappointment on social media after Vicky and Michelle unexpectedly cancelled their appearance just one day before the event. Many questioned why Fanfusion allowed this to happen.
Fanfusion really disappointed a lot of people who were excited to meet their favorite celebrities. Many spent significant amounts of money, but unfortunately, Fanfusion couldn’t fulfill their contractual obligations. Despite this, we want Vix Myers and Michelle to know how much we appreciate them.
Seriously? A flip chart?! After people traveled so far and spent so much money, that’s what they got? And you’re still saying you didn’t know? Unbelievable. So sorry to hear that happened.
‘I know whose statement I’m believe and it ain’t theirs;’
Vicky, we understand you had a good reason for withdrawing, and the attempts to explain it away with fanfiction are disrespectful to both you and Michelle.
Daily Mail contacted representatives for FanFusion, Michelle Hardwick and Vicky Myers for comment.
