Sandra Bullock reveals “deep concern” for family’s safety in statement
Sandra Bullock voiced her significant worry about the well-being of her loved ones as well as those who are being exploited by internet fraudsters.
The Academy Award-winning celebrity issued a cautionary message to followers, asking them to stay vigilant against fake social media profiles trying to misuse her identity.
The safety of my family and those who are being exploited worries me greatly, and I will address this issue more extensively in the future. However, for now, our priority is to assist law enforcement with their investigation.” (via People)
Kindly note that I don’t engage in social media platforms whatsoever. Any profiles claiming to represent me or those connected to me are false, established for monetary benefits or to manipulate others.
More recently, the actor’s sibling, Gesine Bullock-Prado, has cautioned followers on social platforms like Facebook, alerting them about fake profiles claiming to be hers.
She frequently encounters situations throughout her day where she’s confronting phony accounts, receiving bizarre and unsettling emails at both her BUSINESS and HOME addresses. These messages often come from men who mistakenly think they have a relationship with her sister through private conversations on various platforms, including non-app sites. Some of these individuals have transferred large sums of money, sometimes amounting to thousands of dollars, to what they believe is an account belonging to a highly successful and renowned woman.”

She encouraged her audience to flag and block suspicious accounts, mentioning: “I continue using Facebook mainly to keep track of such threats for my own understanding. Indeed, due to these fraudulent activities, I’ve needed to collaborate with local authorities, and I must say their assistance has been exceptional.
Recently, the British soap operas EastEnders, Coronation Street, and Emmerdale all alerted their viewers about fraudulent social media profiles pretending to be their cast members.
EastEnders made a promise to its fans that no actor from the show will ever ask for money in exchange for meetings, messages, backstage tours, or any other kind of interaction.
As a devoted admirer, I wanted to share that both Coronation Street and Emmerdale have spoken up, advising fans like me to stay cautious when navigating social media, keeping an eye out for any potential scammers.
ITV acknowledged that such intricate imitations could involve deepfakes, which may depict someone speaking but are not authentic, as well as personal communications that appear genuine and consistent with a character.
