Streaming scrims is a good idea? FlyQuest says yes and the first one is today!

At the LTA North, streaming scrimmages has become quite the buzz. Coming up in a few days, it’s our turn to broadcast the initial LTA scrimmage games live today.

During a post-game chat following day two of the LTA North, FlyQuest‘s top laner, Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau, shared his thoughts on broadcasting scrimmages via streaming. Bwipo pointed out that some teams appear less enthusiastic about streaming scrims for fans, which he believes affects their performance in the league.

Among the eight rival teams, only one was willing to practice against us. Our team is the one to watch, having qualified for Worlds, reaching the quarterfinals, and engaging in a grueling Best-of-Five match with one of the world’s top teams. We aim to demonstrate to the rest of the league and our supporters what sets us apart as champions.

As a dedicated gamer, I’d say it like this: “I believe our league needs a serious upgrade to boost its durability, given that the LTA North is making its grand entrance alongside the South.

Los Ratones and streaming scrims

As Caedrel, the Twitch streamer, gathered the Los Ratones team, I excitedly shared that most of our scrimmages with other NLC teams would be broadcast live. This innovative approach to League of Legends content was a fresh departure from what had previously been available. While fans knew about scrims as a means for teams to experiment and strategize, they hadn’t had the chance to witness them up close before. Now, they could watch us put our skills to the test against other top teams in real time!

As a gamer, I can’t hide my admiration for the Los Ratones model. Jokingly, I said, “We took their concept,” followed by a hearty laugh. The top laner in me thinks that this strategy is brilliant – it not only connects with fans but also pushes us to excel in every aspect. For me, doing better is the ultimate goal; it’s about improving in every single way.

The first streamed scrim in the LTA North

His long-held desires were finally heeded. The first LTA North stream scrim between FlyQuest and Cloud9 takes place on February 4th. You can catch it on FlyQuest’s official Twitch channel at 11h45 a.m. PST / 2h45 p.m. EST / 9h45 p.m. CET.

As a streamer, here’s my tip for catching some exciting scrim action: Just include FlyQuest in the title of your stream! In fact, you might even find yourself streaming alongside Ilha das Lendas, the top League of Legends content creator from Brazil, if they decide to co-stream FlyQuest’s scrim on their channel. Happy gaming and streaming!

Not all scrims

The comments sparked varied responses among the general population. Some individuals criticized Bwipo for supposedly having an oversized ego, given his strong performance against Gen.G. On the other hand, others believe more individuals like Bwipo should voice concerns about the league, as they feel it’s not addressing the waning public interest adequately. Bwipo later explained on his X account that he never intended to stream all content but only wanted to set aside specific blocks each week for a fan scrim moment.

Teams eliminated early from Split 1 tournaments could leverage streamed practice matches (scrims) to maintain fan interest and connection. A prolonged absence from the spotlight during the playoffs break can negatively impact a team’s brand with fans, but taking short breaks can still be possible within this window. Another fan suggested that facing known strategies in scrims helps teams improve, making their opponents stronger as well.

In other words: Teams knocked out early in Split 1 need to stream practice matches (scrims) to stay relevant and engage fans during the playoffs break. Avoiding the spotlight for too long can harm a team’s reputation with fans, but breaks can still be taken within this timeframe. A fan pointed out that facing established strategies helps teams grow stronger, causing opponents to improve as well.
