Sarah Michelle Gellar in talks for Buffy the Vampire Slayer sequel
Sarah Michelle Gellar is reportedly in final talks for a Buffy the Vampire Slayer sequel series.
As reported by Variety, discussions are underway for a follow-up series of the cherished show on Hulu, with Gellar in advanced negotiations to portray the main character in the yet unnamed production.
According to reports, the upcoming sequel series is penned by Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman, with the storyline revolving around a fresh Slayer character. Sarah Michelle Gellar will reappear in her iconic role, but this time as a recurring character instead of serving as the main lead.
The latest version of ‘Buffy’ will be steered by Chloé Zhao. She will serve as executive producer for the series under her own production company, Book of Shadows.
Moreover, joining the production team as executive producers are Gellar, Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui, Kaz Kuzui, and Dolly Parton – these same individuals were also executive producers during the original show’s run.
If you’re yearning for more “Buffy” content, the series can now be streamed for free in the UK, making it accessible to those without a Disney+ subscription.
ITV has revealed that their streaming platform, ITVX, will be adding all seven seasons of a show, available from now until March as part of their winter programming.
Currently, Gellar has disclosed that she found herself in a minor predicament after posting a sneak peek from the upcoming movie “I Know What You Did Last Summer” sequel.
Although Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character from the initial film has perished, she isn’t set to appear on screen. However, she is backing her spouse, Freddie Prinze Jr., who is starring in the upcoming sequel instead.
Sharing an image of a chair bearing a movie title on Instagram, Gellar admitted she received a reprimand.
In the interview on Live with Kelly and Mark, she stated, “Given my position, you might assume I’m well-versed in the rules that apply to sets labeled as ‘closed.’
She mentioned, “I discovered later on that they hadn’t shared any photos from the set as they hadn’t disclosed they had begun filming. Well, it turned out to be a ‘Whoops! My mistake!’
Buffy the Vampire Slayer can be streamed in full on Disney+.
