BBC’s compelling British crime drama confirms new cast in first look at returning season

The BBC has revealed exclusive previews of the second season of “The Gold”, introducing several fresh faces as part of the cast.

This crime drama is coming back for another episode, airing later this year on BBC iPlayer and BBC One. Joining the cast are actors like Tom Hughes, Stephen Campbell Moore, and Joshua McGuire.

Dressed smartly, Campbell Moore appears rather grave in one picture, while Joshua McGuire, seemingly irritated, walks off from Emun Elliott who is reprising his role as Tony Brightwell in another shot.

In a new teaser picture, it appears that Tom Hughes, known for his role on Victoria, is attempting to win over actress Rochelle Neil with his charms.

Viewers will delight in the return of actor Hugh Bonneville, known for his roles in “Downton Abbey” and “Paddington”, as Brian Boyce. This is alongside Charlotte Spencer’s Nicki Jennings and Brightwell (Elliott), the police officers from season one who were instrumental in the conviction of several individuals involved in the 1983 Brink’s-Mat gold heist case.

In the second season, they discover that they had apprehended only part of the criminal network, leading them to conduct further probes to bring the remaining culprits to justice.

In series two, we delve into the fate of the other half and uncover the criminal wealth it generated,” hints the official show summary.

The police probe goes on, leading us through an intense, risky exploration of global money laundering and organized crime. Simultaneously, the officers engage in thrilling chases as they strive diligently to crack open the longest and costliest case in the annals of the Metropolitan Police.

Once again joining us is Tom Cullen, reprising his role as John Palmer. In addition, we have a new cast member, Joshua Samuels, along with Stefanie Martini and Sam Spruell, portraying Marnie Palmer and Charlie Miller respectively.

Season two of the show “Gold” is penned by Eric and Neil Forsyth, who also worked on “Guilt”. It will feature a total of six episodes.

Later in the year, BBC One and BBC iPlayer will broadcast the second season of Gold. If you haven’t seen it yet, season one is currently streaming on iPlayer.
