Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson’s new thriller gets big release date delay
The planned release of the sci-fi thriller starring Rebecca Ferguson and Chris Pratt, titled “Mercy,” has been postponed.
Back in 2025, I was all geared up for the release of a movie on my calendar, August 15. Guess what else was hitting theaters that very same day? none other than Bob Odenkirk’s action-packed sequel, “Nobody 2”. Can’t wait to see how it stacks up!
Initially scheduled for release earlier, the film “Mercy” has been delayed until January 23, 2026, according to Deadline – a move that pushes its debut a week after the premiere of Zach Cregger’s horror sequel “Weapons,” titled “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” and an unnamed Disney movie.
Under the direction of Timur Bejmambetov, known for his work on “Wanted”, and with Marco van Belle, who penned “Arthur & Merlin”, penning the script, the upcoming film titled “Mercy” is set in a future that isn’t too far away. The movie will feature Chris Pratt, star of “Guardians of the Galaxy”, taking on the role of a detective in this intriguing production.
In the movie summary, Chris Pratt’s character stands charged with a serious crime and must work to clear his name in a world where instances of capital punishment are becoming more frequent.
Details about Ferguson’s character have not yet been shared.
In addition to Mercy, the cast includes Kali Reis, Annabelle Wallis, Chris Sullivan, Kenneth Choi, Kylie Rogers, Rafi Gavron, and Jeff Pierre.
Previously, it became known that Ferguson will be part of the cast in Netflix’s forthcoming “Peaky Blinders” film; however, specifics about her character have yet to be disclosed.
The movie carries on from the series, it unfolds some years following the conclusion of Peaky Blinders’ sixth season and delves into the lives of the Shelby family as they navigate through World War II.
In addition to Ferguson, other actors joining the cast for the sequel are Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth, and Jay Lycurgo. Meanwhile, some familiar faces reprising their roles include Cillian Murphy, Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, and Ian Peck.
In the near future, Chris Pratt will appear alongside Millie Bobby Brown in the upcoming Netflix film titled “The Electric State”, set to premiere on March 14.
Mercy will be released in cinemas on January 23, 2026.
