Nicolas Cage’s Shocking Warning: Actors Must Fight Back Against AI in Hollywood!

Nicholas Cage expressed his views about the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the movie industry, particularly in the crafting of narratives for the silver screen.

On Sunday at the 52nd Saturn Awards, the 61-year-old actor received the accolade of Best Actor in a Film, which he won for his role as Paul Matthews in the movie titled “Dream Scenario”.

In a speech at the Hilton Universal City Hotel, Universal City, California, he expressed concerns regarding the potential risks associated with Artificial Intelligence.

Initially, the actor acknowledged and expressed gratitude towards Kristoffer Borgli, his Dream Scenario director, “for his guidance in direction, scriptwriting, editing, and for envisioning and bringing to life this uniquely unsettling yet amusing universe.

He went on to say, “This movie, in truth, is among my all-time favorites that I’ve produced,” and then shifted the conversation towards the emergence of Artificial Intelligence.

However, another realm causes me unease as well. It’s the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence that surrounds us currently. I am a strong advocate for humans maintaining control over their own dreams and aspirations, rather than leaving it to machines.

‘Actors should avoid letting any artificial intelligence influence their performances, for it could subtly erode the authenticity, honesty, and artistic value we’ve come to appreciate in art. If an actor allows a robot to manipulate their performance by just a small amount, it could gradually escalate, replacing artistic integrity with financial gain as the primary focus. We must strive to prevent this from happening.’

In my opinion, the main purpose of any form of art, including films and performances, is to reflect both the outer and inner narratives of human existence by skillfully reenacting the thoughtful and emotional aspects of humanity.

‘Robots aren’t capable of doing that task. Allowing robots to perform such tasks could strip them of any emotional depth, leading to a loss of their unique qualities and eventually rendering them ineffective,’ he explained further.

The Oscar-winning actor stated that there’ll be no more human understanding of life as it currently is; instead, life will be shaped according to how robots perceive it.

He suggested, “Ensure that AI doesn’t disrupt your genuine and truthful communication.

Additionally, the actor honored his late director, David Lynch, from their film “Wild At Heart,” as he tragically passed away at the age of 78 in January.

The actor commented that the excitement in this room was unlike any other awards ceremony, and it brought to mind one of his most esteemed collaborators, David Lynch.

During my work on the set of ‘Wild at Heart’, I was a dedicated, relatively young actor and asked David, “May I enjoy myself during this film?” He responded, “Absolutely, not only is it allowed, but it’s essential,” as Cage later remembered.

Previously, Cage expressed his reservations about AI in October, saying, “They’ll digitally replicate me, adjusting details like my eye color, I suppose. They might even take control of my physical form using AI… I fervently hope that doesn’t happen.

He openly expressed his fear of Artificial Intelligence and has not hesitated to voice this concern. Additionally, he pondered over how his digitized likeness of his physical self might be utilized by filmmakers decades later.

Additionally, at this year’s Saturn Awards, the Lifetime Achievement Award was given to William Shatner, a renowned figure from Star Trek.

Laurence Fishburne handed over the Lance Reddick Memorial Award to LeVar Burton, and the Robert Forster Artistic Accolade was bestowed upon Hiroyuki Sanada, who is famously known for his role in ‘Shogun’.
