Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard was “very emotional” saying goodbye to show
Finn Wolfhard, a star from the series Stranger Things, has expressed his heartfelt thoughts as the series approaches its conclusion.
The popular show, taking place in ’80s Indiana, chronicles a band of teens battling paranormal entities. Filming for the fifth and concluding season has been completed, with its release expected on Netflix towards the end of this year.
In an interview with Deadline, the actor who portrays Mike Wheeler (Wolfhard) talked about his time on the series and the feelings that came with witnessing its last episode. “Many people have grown up watching this show,” he noted, “so it was quite emotional to say goodbye.
In a recent turn of events, the actor has been featured prominently in the highly anticipated fantasy adventure titled “The Legend of Ochi“, which completed filming last year and is set to hit screens this coming spring. His enthusiasm for this long-awaited flick is reminiscent of the anticipation surrounding the final episode of Stranger Things .
I can hardly wait to catch the show as it feels like the culmination of something you’ve been working towards for quite some time… It’s reminiscent of a film where we’ve been waiting and working on it for ages, say since 2021, then life moves on, but then all of a sudden, it’s like, wow, it’s actually happening!
“The thing we did is finally coming out, and you get to re-experience these awesome things.”
Additionally, Wolfhard opened up about his emotions when the filming of “Stranger Things” concluded in December. “I felt a little down since I wouldn’t get to hang out with everyone anymore,” he confessed.
Then, you recall… You find yourself thinking, ‘Ah, yet it becomes visible for all to witness, and we can relive it together once more.’
He mentioned: “It was incredibly emotional for me to gather with the team and watch [The Legend of Ochi, at the Sundance Film Festival]. This experience made the movie even more significant. I can only hope that, similarly, Stranger Things 5 will take us there.
Seasons 1 through 4 of Stranger Things are currently streaming on Netflix, with the sixth and concluding season set to arrive soon. Meanwhile, a stage adaptation titled “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” is accepting reservations at the Phoenix Theatre in London until February 2025. Tickets for this live performance can be purchased now.
