Amanda Holden’s Heartbreaking Tribute to Stillborn Son Theo on Anniversary
14 years ago, Amanda Holden paid an emotional tribute to her stillborn son, Theo, on the anniversary of his passing.
53-year-old presenter shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, commemorating her son who sadly passed away at seven months of pregnancy back in 2011.
She wrote: ‘Our beautiful boy would have been 14 today’.
Previously, Amanda has openly shared her personal experiences with the aim of providing support to other parents facing similar challenges.
In the year 2011, during her seventh month of pregnancy, Amanda received devastating news about her unborn child, Theo, during a regular ultrasound: his heart had ceased to beat.
After the tragic loss of their son Theo, the television personality and her spouse Chris Hughes ultimately chose to undergo a cesarean section.
In the previous year, Amanda wrote a heartfelt message for Theo, saying: ‘If you were alive today, you would be turning thirteen… #Theo’
In September 2022, Amanda shared that she felt like a participant in a game show when a medical professional informed her that she would be returning home without her baby, following her stillbirth experience.
In this scenario, the presenter collaborated with a charitable organization called Aching Arms, specifically focusing on baby loss, and collected funds for them during their 3 Peaks Challenge as a part of their fundraising efforts.
During an interview with Ross Sullivan, a user of Aching Arms, on his Heart Breakfast show, Amanda opened up about her distressing encounter and expressed her wish for the charity to assist individuals in avoiding similar hurtful language as she experienced.
She mentioned: “I’ll always remember a time when I experienced something quite alike to what you’ve been through.
In a thoughtful manner, the staff transferred me to a separate room when we tragically had to give birth to our baby Theo at 28 weeks, sparing me from hearing other newborns’ joyous cries in the usual ward.
Frequently, such small details are overlooked, but they make a big difference. After our conversation, I recall the woman mentioning, “I see you’re leaving without anything,” to me.
‘I felt as if I was a participant in a game show, thus the jargon this charity aims to eliminate. They’ll help people cope better and educate them about such a terrible situation. Truly, it’s a dreadful matter.’
On her radio show during Nurse’s Day, Amanda additionally talked about Theo’s passing and expressed gratitude by saying, “I just want to express my personal appreciation to all the nurses.
It’s something I find myself discussing frequently, and I’m often unsure if I’m saying too much. However, the care I received at the hospital following the loss of our son Theo through stillbirth was truly remarkable.
‘Jacki Nash got me through so much, Pippa Nightingale and Natalie Carter.’
In the year 2008, Amanda tied the knot with Chris Hughes, and together they have two lovely daughters – Alexa, who is now 19 years old, and Hollie, aged 12.
