NASCAR: One track removed from the calendar for the 2025 season

This coming weekend, I’ll be diving into the thrill of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series kickoff! The action starts at the Cook Out Clash exhibition race held at Bowman Gray Stadium. Can’t wait to buckle up and hit the track!

The Winston-Salem, North Carolina oval, a four-turn, 0.25-mile track, isn’t included in the 36-race main calendar but is one of two new additions to this year’s schedule that weren’t on last year’s list.

And the track it has replaced is the only track on last year’s schedule that is not on this year’s.

Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum no longer on NASCAR Cup Series schedule

After competing in 42 races on the Daytona International Speedway oval from 1979 to 2020 and one race at the track’s road course in 2021, NASCAR shifted the Clash event to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the year 2022.

From 2022 to 2024, the preseason race was hosted by the University of Southern California (USC). However, it’s been almost five decades since the NASCAR Cup Series last visited “the Madhouse.” Now, it’s scheduled to make a comeback.

Despite the fact that only last year’s Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum event isn’t on this year’s Cup Series schedule, a second new venue will be visited in the current season. Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez has been included, while Richmond Raceway is scheduled for one less race date compared to previous years.

For the year 2025, none of the racetracks that held points races in 2024 have been completely eliminated from the schedule, with Richmond still slated for one event.

Kick off your weekend with excitement as The Cook Out Clash airs live on Fox from Bowman Gray Stadium, starting at 8:00 p.m. ET on February 2nd. Meanwhile, fasten your seatbelts for the commencement of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season, with the live broadcast of the 67th annual Daytona 500 from Daytona International Speedway, beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET on February 16th.
