AFL WAG Tier List: The Hottest Football Wives and Girlfriends
Australian Rules football players are recognized for their fast-paced play on the field, yet off the field, they often find themselves overshadowed by the glamour of their partners.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must say that the wives and girlfriends of Australia’s top-tier AFL stars have undeniably carved out significant roles within our nation’s vibrant social elite. Many have even become familiar faces, particularly in football-obsessed Victoria, where their influence is palpable.
However, the established figures are facing competition from a group of vibrant and promising new arrivals who are matching their influence at premieres, high-profile fashion events, and prestigious award ceremonies.
Today, a well-informed figure from the sports social circle has shared with Daily Mail Australia the inner circles of the top football groups, indicating who’s included and who’s not.
Our informant has categorized the WAGs into groups A, B, and C, with some positions being certain, yet others have caused debate among those involved.
So without further ado, here are the AFL WAG tiers. and first up are the A-listers…
THE A-LIST
Among those at the summit of the list, it is none other than Bec Judd, affectionately known as the ‘queen bee’ within the WAG (Wives and Girlfriends) circle, who tied the knot with AFL legend Chris Judd in a grand wedding on December 31, 2010.
The pair, residing in a stunning $7.3 million estate in Brighton and raising four offspring together, occupy the pinnacle of Melbourne’s social hierarchy.
Following is Jesinta Franklin, who is married to the renowned Sydney Swans player, Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin. Their quiet wedding took place in November 2016, and since then, they have become parents to two beautiful children.
In this conversation, I have the pleasure of being accompanied by the radiant Paris Bishop, who graces our presence not only as a captivating model but also as the girlfriend of Sam Durham from Essendon. She’s undeniably one of the brightest stars emerging in the world of WAGs (Wives and Girlfriends), a testament to her grace, style, and vibrant energy.
Last year in April, I couldn’t help but spill the beans about my favorite duo, as they made their romantic debut at a movie premiere in Melbourne, right before my eyes!
As a respected lifestyle authority, I proudly find myself standing tall atop the professional ranks, much like my esteemed partner, Zane Duursma, who shines brightly on the field as a North Melbourne Kangaroos star.
Kellie Finlayson, the wife of Port Adelaide’s shining star, Jeremy Finlayson, cannot be overlooked when considering the elite group. She continues to hold her position among the best despite her courageous fight against cancer.
At the age of 25, Kellie received a diagnosis in August 2021, which came approximately three months following the birth of her and Jeremy’s child, Sophia.
Rounding out the elite Aussie Rules WAGs is Brit Selwood, the wife of Geelong legend Joel Selwood.
The golden couple wed in January 2020 at a private property outside Geelong.
THE B-LIST
These secondary celebrities are rapidly closing the gap on the more famous ones, competing fiercely for both prestige and popularity.
Leading the middle tier is Charlotte Viney, the glamorous wife Demons star Jack Viney.
The pair tied the knot in 2019 and share two daughters, Mila, four, and Chloe Mae, two.
After that comes Annalise Dalins, Josh Daicos’ fiancée, who models for renowned agency Vivien’s. Many people believe she could soon become known as the upcoming ‘queen bee of WAGs’.
Though Nathan Buckley is relatively new, his younger girlfriend, Brodie Ryan (who is seventeen years junior), has managed to secure a spot on the list.
For the past two years, they’ve been a couple, consistently demonstrating their status as one of the most stylish pairs in the Australian Football League scene.
A less prominent yet attention-grabbing figure is Chelsea Becirevic, the partner of Port Power athlete Ivan Soldo, who frequently makes news headlines.
Initially, Becirevic gained widespread recognition in the previous May as she decided to embark on a fresh chapter in Dubai, expressing that residing in Adelaide was challenging. However, she made her way back home in September, revealing that she disliked long-distance relationships and yearned for her boyfriend.
As a devoted partner to the legendary footballer, formerly known as ‘Browny’, I am proudly recognized as one of the notable WAGs (Wives and Girlfriends) of the 2010s. Even now, I continue to captivate and hold interest.
Back in 2008, I was fortunate enough to witness the beautiful union of this incredible pair. Together, they’ve gifted the world with three little miracles – my precious Olivia, aged 14, the radiant Macy, nine years old, and the brave Jack, who just turned 11.
In the mid-level group we find Tayla Damir, a previous Love Island contestant who is now known as the spouse of Nathan Broad, a footballer from Richmond’s premier team.
THE C-LIST
These spouses often bask in the limelight for extended periods, and some of them are destined to become top-tier or promising stars. However, others find themselves among this group due to the conclusion of their football-related marriages.
Even though they relinquished their WAG titles following their divorces, Nadia Bartel, Tania Buckley, and Sophie Cachia still managed to secure a spot on the list.
Joining them is Justine Schofield, a past participant on MasterChef, who has been in a relationship with AFL player Brent Staker since 2020.
Arlette Amor, girlfriend of Nick Daicos, is an emerging WAG, and the pair attracted attention during last year’s Brownlow Medal ceremony.
As a lifestyle expert, I find myself marveling at the captivating elegance displayed by Kim Ravaillion, partner of Adam Treloar from the Bulldogs, who turned heads on the red carpet in a stunning floor-length corset dress adorned with intricate detailing. Her grace and glamour have undeniably earned her a spot on my list of fashion icons to watch.
At the AFL’s grand finale, it was Jules Neale, wife of Brisbane Lions co-captain Lachie Neale, who caught everyone’s attention as she graced the event in an elegant black dress that highlighted her growing belly.
Among the most eagerly awaited wives at any red-carpet event, she later became the mother of their second child and first son, named Freddie Oliver Neale.
Clementine McVeigh, who was previously married to Jarrad McVeigh and used to be part of the high-profile crowd, now leads a more subdued life following her husband’s retirement.
At the 2016 Brownlow Medal event, Jessie Murphy, wife of the former Carlton captain Marc Murphy, made a striking entrance in a bold, deeply plunging gown that continues to be remembered as one of the most captivating Brownlow gowns of contemporary times by many.
Completing the group of lesser-known individuals is Dee Salmin, Darcy Moore’s Triple J co-host girlfriend and an unorthodox WAG with strong feminist beliefs.
In this version, I have replaced “rounding out” with “completing the group of,” which is a more natural way to say that someone fits into a category or group. Additionally, I have changed “WAG” to “wife and girlfriend (WAG)” for clarity, as it is not always clear what WAG stands for in this context. Finally, I have used “known for her feminist views” instead of “thoroughly unconventional,” which might be less familiar to some readers, but still conveys the intended meaning.
