Ricki-Lee Coulter Opens Up About Living with Endometriosis Pain for Years

Ricki-Lee Coulter has shared her experience of enduring severe discomfort for years due to endometriosis, which she kept hidden from the public.

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, the 39-year-old shares that a routine jog had her worrying she might need to be admitted to the hospital.

She mentioned, “While running, there are moments when I feel so uncomfortable that I think I might need to dial for an ambulance, as something is severely limiting me, and it’s quite frightening.

Alternatively, imagine yourself stationary at the store, leaning against a shelf due to intense discomfort, unable to move – situations such as these make you think, “This is not typical.

‘We shouldn’t just be made to feel like that’s a normal thing.’

Ricki-Lee chose to reveal her condition publicly, doing so in order to assist and inspire others.

She mentioned that the topic was intriguing, as she hesitated to discuss it due to a sense of not wanting to appear self-pitying since there are many individuals who face even greater hardships, she added.

Rickie-Lee admits that she endured persistent, excruciating pain and needed to hide it behind a strong facade in order to continue working.

‘I’m having to slap on a smile and be like “everything is fine, guys”‘ she said. 

As a lifestyle expert, I find myself in a challenging situation today. Despite the intense discomfort that’s keeping me rooted, I must step onto the stage and fulfill my responsibilities. My job demands my presence, even when every fiber of my being yearns for relief from this pain.

Endometriosis refers to a condition where tissue resembling the womb’s lining develops in places other than the uterus – commonly on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder, or intestines.

The singer underwent major surgery to treat the condition last year. 

Ricki-Lee openly shared with her fans that she’s been dealing with endometriosis and recently received medical treatment, having lived with this debilitating pain for more than 10 years.

In her post, the radio host from Nova shared some pictures where the courageous singer is captured smiling and flashing a ‘thumbs up’, clearly expressing appreciation towards her fans.

In her lengthy share Ricki-Lee said the recent procedure came after suffering chronic pain.

She pointed out, ‘For those suffering from endometriosis, it often requires considerable persistence and self-advocacy over a prolonged period before reaching the point where one undergoes surgery and receives any kind of diagnosis.’

Ricki-Lee explained that, due to daily discomfort, she ultimately decided to have the operation when the pain grew too intense to tolerate.

She said that it took many years of seeing specialists before she understood her condition.

Upon learning that her condition was indeed endometriosis, she mentioned that “the only remaining choice seemed to be undergoing surgery.

She added: ‘This past week, I underwent a laparoscopy and excision surgery to remove endometriosis. I can merely cross my fingers and wish that this marks an end to my pain.’

Ricki-Lee concluded her communication by informing fans that she has been discharged from the hospital and is once again with her spouse, Richard Harrison.

A good number of Ricki-Lee’s well-known companions swiftly expressed their well-wishes towards the adored artist.
