Glam Tribute: Charlotte Dawson Honors Linda Nolan at Emotional Funeral

At St. Paul’s Church in Blackpool on Saturday, Charlotte Dawson dressed up elegantly and stylishly to honor the Nolan sister during her funeral. This was a touching tribute she made.

On January 15, 2025, the renowned singer Linda lost her life at the age of 65. She had fought bravely with breast cancer for twenty years, and in her final days, she also battled double pneumonia.

Linda, a well-known singing legend, passed away on January 15, 2025 at the age of 65. After a long struggle with breast cancer that spanned over two decades and a subsequent battle with double pneumonia, she finally lost her life.

At the funeral, I, being a devoted follower, chose to wear a form-fitting dress that elegantly accentuated my expanding baby belly, which is a testament to the life growing within me at 32 years old.

She donned a lengthy black cloak on top of her outfit, completing the look with a pair of black pumps that sported a tiny black ribbon.

Charlotte, the offspring of Les Dawson, carried her possessions using a pastel-pink Chanel handbag and concealed herself with a pair of shades.

She showed up at the church, accompanied by her mom, Tracy, both clad in black and adorned with subtle pink accessories.

At her funeral, while addressing TopMob and other media outlets, Charlotte expressed: “I’ve dressed up elegantly for you, Linda. She admired me when I was all glammed-up. I don’t believe I’ll maintain this appearance following the ceremony.

On this day, the sun seems to be shining brightly for her, as she was truly a remarkable individual. Every space she entered seemed to sparkle with her presence.

‘Everyone loves Linda, everyone. She was such a fun, bubbly, fabulous person and made me laugh.

We created some unforgettable moments that we truly cherish. These memories hold a unique charm. Occasionally, when I wasn’t expecting, and after we’d had a few drinks, I’d help her get ready with a full makeover. She would be all glamorous.

Traveling across the country brought us countless unique moments filled with laughter and playful antics; it’s the activity we cherished most.

On January 15th, I sadly bid farewell to my dear one, Linda, at the age of 65 in Blackpool Victoria Hospital. Her life was claimed by the relentless battle with double pneumonia, which ultimately led her to enter hospice care and later into a coma.

Despite battling advanced breast cancer that had metastasized to her hip, liver, and brain, it was ultimately some other condition that led to her demise, not cancer itself.

The remaining sisters from the Irish ’80s pop band have collected £2,670 for Trinity Hospice: Maureen (age 71), Anne (age 74), Denise (age 72), and Coleen (age 59).

The surviving sisters of the ’80s Irish pop band raised £2,670 for Trinity Hospice. They are Maureen (71), Anne (74), Denise (72), and Coleen (59).

Linda will be buried in her cherished city of Blackpool, which served as both the launching pad for the Nolan family’s fame after their move there in 1972, and the place they spent significant portions of their lives. They even recorded a song titled “Blackpool” about the local football team at one point.

10:30am marked the start of the funeral service, taking place at the very same church on Honister Avenue, where Linda and her cherished spouse, Brian Hudson, exchanged vows in 1981 during their marriage ceremony.

The church was the location for her to conduct Brian’s funeral, following his passing from skin cancer in 2007 at the age of 60.

A private service followed at a crematorium nearby, with Linda laid to rest with Brian’s ashes.

Earlier, Coleen shared with The Mirror that the decision regarding Linda’s final resting spot had already been made beforehand, stating, “Upon her passing, my immediate idea was to unite Brian’s ashes with those of Linda.

‘So that’s what we’re doing. In life they were never apart, so I’m glad they’ll be together again.’

Following Linda’s passing, her sisters Anne (age 74), Denise (age 72), Maureen (age 69), and Coleen (age 59) issued a call to Linda’s admirers, inviting them to pay their respects and honor ‘the extraordinary life she led’.

Fans gathered outside St Paul’s in designated areas, joining in with the family’s final farewell.

A post on social media last week extended an invitation from the Nolan family, inviting all to participate in a celebration honoring the remarkable life of Linda Nolan.

Linda served as an illuminating symbol of resilience, compassion, and boundless love, touching every heart she encountered, not just those within her reach but also countless souls worldwide.

Her being gone has left a deep longing within us, yet her spirit continues to flourish through the happiness, optimism, and compassion that she generously bestowed upon us.

All those who were acquainted with Linda or whose lives she influenced are invited to join us in honoring her extraordinary life, as we recall her fondly.

Everyone is invited to assemble outside the church during the funeral service. Just like our beloved Linda would have wanted, let’s make it a lively gathering with lots of people!

St. Paul’s Church holds a profoundly significant spot in Linda’s heart, for it is here where she exchanged vows with her beloved husband, Brian Hudson. Together they celebrated 26 beautiful years of matrimony. Brian was more than just a spouse to Linda; he was her rock, her soulmate, and the love of her life, reciprocated fervently by her as well.

In 2007, when Brian sadly passed away, Linda found the resilience to keep going, yet her affection for him remained constant. It was St. Paul’s Church where Linda bid farewell to Brian, conducting his funeral in the very same place they had made their marriage vows.

Now, Linda is making her way back to this special location to meet Brian again, finding tranquility and being enfolded in his tender affection once more.

After the ceremony concludes, there’s going to be a private cremation happening at a local crematorium. This event will be limited to immediate family members and intimate friends.

The family then expressed their wishes that any donations be made to a charity.

The family wrote: ‘Out of respect for Linda’s selfless and generous nature, they aim to collect as much donation as they can for Trinity Hospice, a charity that Linda deeply cared about.’

‘You can make donations using the link in our profile, which will take you to her memorial page. This page is also a place where you can share messages of comfort, recollections of special moments, and photos, forming a heartfelt tribute to Linda’s wonderful life.’

Linda wasn’t just an adored sibling, companion, and performer; she embodied optimism, wit, and tenacity.

In 2005, Linda was initially identified as having stage-three breast cancer, and by 2006, she received the good news that she was cancer-free. However, in 2017, she was diagnosed with an incurable type of secondary cancer in her hip, which metastasized to her liver in 2020.

In the third year, she disclosed that the cancer had advanced to her brain, revealing two tumors on its left side, causing difficulties in her speech and balance.

She announced in August that the tumors, previously believed to be stationary, had instead begun to increase in size.

Prior to her passing, the previous Nolan’s star had penned an article in The Mirror, stating that she was gradually improving following a double pneumonia diagnosis. However, just two days afterwards, she was urgently taken to the hospital due to respiratory issues.

Despite being given oxygen and advised to rest, Linda – who was renowned for her lively and cheerful spirit – found it hard to resist putting smiles on the faces of those around her.

Instead of heeding the medical guidance to rest, she opted to devote her last moments to spreading joy and causing laughter among others.

Following her passing, Linda’s sister Denise, aged 72, looked back on their shared life, recalling Linda’s tireless enthusiasm for living. She noted that Linda cherished each day and bequeathed a legacy of love, laughter, and radiance.

Speaking with the Mirror, Denise shared details of her sister’s final hours. “She was full of laughter and jests,” Denise said, “Even though the medical team advised silence to aid her treatment. Despite the dire situation, everyone around her remained hopeful due to her upbeat demeanor.

‘Then at 3.30am on Tuesday, we got the dreaded call, ‘Get to the hospital asap’.’

Linda, in the years preceding her passing, meticulously arranged every detail of her own funeral, even selecting a shimmering pink casket for herself.

In her autobiography From The Heart published in 2018, she expressed: ‘I aim to settle all my personal matters neatly. I’ve given my family enough concern throughout the years, and thus I want to make decisions about everything now so they won’t have to if I were to get severely ill.’

She mentioned: ‘I’ve selected the tunes for my farewell service… I prefer There You’ll Be from Pearl Harbor, as performed by Faith Hill.’

‘The words couldn’t be more fitting for the moment when I’ll finally be going to meet Brian again.’

In 2007, the singer’s spouse, Brian Hudson, passed away due to complications from liver disease. He had previously been diagnosed with skin cancer.

Linda wrote: ‘The tune they played at his funeral was the one we once argued over, back when we thought death was far off in the future. We’d joked about it years ago, deciding who would choose it for their own funeral. Now, looking back, it’s amazing how much has changed.’
