Linda Nolan’s Glitter Pink Coffin and Emotional Funeral Details Revealed
On Saturday, Linda Nolan had a funeral service at St. Paul’s Church in her native town of Blackpool, where her well-known sisters were present.
In the years leading up to her demise, the renowned ’80s pop star meticulously arranged her own funeral details, including a shimmering pink casket adorned with glitter, as well as a touching ballad by Faith Hill, playing an emotional role during the service.
On January 15th, Linda, who was 65 years old, lost her life at Blackpool Victoria Hospital due to a severe case of double pneumonia. After receiving end-of-life care, she eventually fell into a coma.
Despite battling advanced breast cancer that metastasized to her hip, liver, and brain, it wasn’t the cancer itself that ultimately took her life.
At the behest of the Nolan sisters, a crowd gathered at the church where Linda Nolan married her ex-manager and spouse, Brian Hudson, in 1981. Later, the same church was the site of Brian’s funeral in 2007.
At the funeral, Coleen Nolan’s son Shane Richie, aged 35, stood as a door attendant, allowing Denise, Linda’s elder sister and age 72, to deliver the eulogy with ease.
Initially, the four remaining Nolan sisters – Maureen (age 71), Anne (74), Denise (72), and Coleen (59) – entered the church ahead and stayed there as their sister was being carried in by seven pall bearers, who were male friends and family members of the Nolan’s.
Linda’s name was arranged in white flowers and pink roses in the back of the black hearse.
On her casket, a beautifully coordinated bouquet of flowers sat, adorned with tender notes penned by her loved ones.
A crowd of enthusiasts eagerly tried to enter the packed church, necessitating the presence of two temporary security personnel at the entrance.
The event started as Faith Hill’s moving ballad, “There You’ll Be,” filled the air. It was Denise, who Linda spent her last days with, who delivered the heartfelt eulogy.
She disclosed that the late singer was affectionately known as ‘Auntie Ginda’ within the family, due to her fondness for enjoying a couple of gins.
She started saying: “She was the lively spirit and the heart of every gathering. Her humor was unique, and no future celebration can compare.
Linda often expressed, “I’m not dying from cancer, I’m living with it.” She refused to let it control her life, even when it made its presence felt strongly.
Denise went on to say, “Losing her hair once more was truly difficult for her. To make matters worse, during the Covid-19 pandemic, she had to spend an entire week in the hospital without any visitors being permitted.
‘All of these things would have destroyed a lesser person but Linda wouldn’t allow it.’
Denise implied: ‘It’s time for rest now, Linda, for the fight has ended and you are free.’ The tune ‘When It’s Over’ played afterward.
In simpler terms, Paul Harlan, the only remaining Chuckle brother (at 77 years old), expressed condolences by saying that the world seems less vibrant without Linda, as they shared many joyful moments in their lives together.
