Lily Collins’ Shocking Secret to Beating Her Eating Disorder

Earlier, it was disclosed that Lily Collins‘s aspiration for starting a family played a significant role in helping her conquer her eating disorder.

Actress Lily Collins, who plays the lead role in Emily in Paris, recently announced the birth of her daughter, Tove Jane, at the age of 35. This joyous event took place through a surrogate with her partner, filmmaker Charlie McDowell, who is 41 years old.

For quite some time, Lily has been vocal about her wish to become a parent. In a deeply emotional interview from 2017, she disclosed that the ambition to establish a family served as a motivation for seeking assistance with her eating disorder.

Asked by Us Weekly if I had a moment when I recognized my need for aid, I shared that everyone’s path to wellness and healing is unique. In other words, we all have our own distinctive methods for getting better and finding balance in life.

She continued, stating that she never experienced a sudden realization or “aha” moment. Instead, it was when she recognized her desire for having a family that prompted her to begin discussing her eating disorder.

‘I wanted kids. I didn’t want this to be something I bring into that.’

As a teen, Lily battled an eating disorder, admitting later that it offered her a sense of ‘control’ amidst the challenges of ‘school life and romantic entanglements’.

In her interview with Harper’s Bazaar in 2017, she shared that when she was younger, she strived for an ideal of perfection she had in mind, which she associated with the body shapes portrayed in media. She explained that one might believe having a certain body shape is crucial for achieving perfection.

Over time, as I got older, I came to understand that perfection is not attainable, and since I aspire to start a family someday, my life priorities have evolved accordingly.

I don’t want my personal health problems to interfere with my ability to have children. The truth is, it’s difficult to conceive when one is as unwell as I am.

2017 saw Lily, who portrayed a character battling anorexia in the Netflix series ‘To The Bone’, share insights into her own journey of overcoming the eating disorder.

Actress from The Love, Rosie shared that she is still working on her recovery following her past eating disorder and continues to cope with it, yet no longer allows it to have power over her decisions.

The actress announced on Friday that she has become a first time mother.

Posting an adorable picture of Tove wearing a floral hat on Instagram, she captioned it: ‘Tove Jane McDowell, you’ve made your way to the heart of our universe!’

Lily continued, “We can’t truly express the boundless appreciation we have for our amazing surrogate and all those who aided us throughout this journey. Our affection for you reaches beyond the stars and back.

I, utterly thrilled and starstruck, couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard about The Mirror, Mirror actress tying the knot with her beloved Charlie last September! Their enchanting union unfolded in a secretive, intimate ceremony held high up in the Colorado Rockies. The illustrious parents of both were there to witness this magical moment, adding an extra dash of stardust to their special day.

Lily is the child born to Philip Collins, lead vocalist and songwriter for the band Genesis, and his former spouse Jill Tavelman.

Charlie is the biological son of actors Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen, but they separated in 1990. Later, Mary remarried Ted Danson, making Charlie his stepson.

As reported by TMZ, Lily and Charlie welcomed their newborn daughter, Tove, earlier this week in Northern California through a surrogate.

Following the birth of their child, it was said that Charlie’s biological mother, Mary, and her partner, Ted (who is not Charlie’s biological father), stopped by the hospital to see the newborn.

It’s reported that Lily and Charlie were brimming with love and appreciation upon the arrival of their newborn baby.

The couple successfully kept their surrogacy arrangements a secret, only revealing them once Tove had been born.

However, they haven’t held back about their desire to expand their family.

In October, Charlie told E! News that he and Lily wanted to have a child.

‘We would like to move into that next stage, so we’ll see when it happens!’ he gushed at the time.

At the premiere of his latest directorial project, The Summer Book, during the AFI Fest, he voiced his comments. Simultaneously, Lily took up the role of an executive producer for the movie.

The movie, featuring Glenn Close and Anders Danielsen Lie, might offer an explanation for why Lily and Charlie chose their daughter’s first name.

The movie derives its storyline from a 1972 book of the identical title, penned by the Finnish author and artist Tove Jansson. Regrettably, she passed away in 2001 at the age of 86.
