“So starting in Season 15, Clash maps are going to be removed out of Competitive Play.”
Excitedly, I share with you the latest updates from the Overwatch 2 team! Not only have they unveiled a mini-competitive season featuring thrilling six-versus-six (6v6) gameplay, but they’ve also got some big changes coming to competitive gameplay next season. The Clash maps, which have been a staple in the game so far, will be removed from competitive play starting with the upcoming season. Keep your eyes peeled for more details!

Overwatch 2 removes Clash maps from ranked
As per the word of Overwatch 2’s game director Aaron Keller, it has been announced that Clash maps will no longer be featured in Competitive Play starting from Season 15. This decision enables the Overwatch 2 development team to focus on enhancing and optimizing these maps for a better ranked gameplay experience.
Last year, Keller presented Clash, a game modeled after the initial Assault maps, that allows players to switch between attacking and defending roles during gameplay. Clash has hosted some impressive games, but we’ve also received valuable suggestions for improvement.
Later on, he admitted to encountering certain problems with the layouts of Clash maps. For instance, it’s possible for one side to swiftly overwhelm the other, and there’s often a mix-up among players regarding which objective is currently in play.
“We’ll keep you updated on the progress we make there,” Keller added.

Overwatch 2 keeps Clash in Quick Play
In Overwatch 2 Season 15, Clash won’t feature in Competitive Play, but it can still be played in Quick Play and other casual modes. This implies that players will have the opportunity to engage with maps like Hanaoka and Throne of Anubis during this upcoming season.
To give you a brief reminder, the Clash gameplay centers around five key locations, with just one of these spots being in play at any given moment. The team that manages to control all five locations for a total of five times wins the entire match.
Speaking further on recent updates about Overwatch 2, Keller expressed his enthusiasm for the forthcoming Overwatch 2 Spotlight event.
