Next to an old, black-and-white photo of her friend, she posted on her Instagram story: ‘Rest In Peace, dear Marianne.’
Recently, we chatted over the phone, and regrettably, we were supposed to meet, but it didn’t materialize. I hold dear so many wonderful moments we shared – love you.
In another context, Marianne’s past partner, Mick Jagger, recalled her as an ‘excellent friend’.
He expressed his sadness over Marianne Faithfull’s passing on Instagram, sharing a collection of old photos from the 1960s alongside the message.
For such a considerable stretch of time, she had been an integral aspect of mine. Not only was she an exceptional companion, but also a mesmerizing vocalist and a gifted thespian. Her memory shall forever live on in our hearts.
1964 marked the beginning of Marianne’s musical adventure when she recorded the song “As Tears Go By,” written by the esteemed trio consisting of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and their manager Andrew Loog Oldham from the Rolling Stones.

Her private life intertwined significantly with the band, and following the divorce from artist John Dunbar, she started dating Mick, making her a prominent figure in the vibrant Swinging Sixties society of London.
Keith, aged 81, recently shared a photo of them both, with him tapping his wine glass against Marianne’s teacup, and expressed his feelings by saying: “My deepest sympathies go out to Marianne’s family. I am deeply saddened by her passing and will miss her dearly. With love, Keith.
Their Stones bandmate Ronnie Wood, 77, added on his Instagram: ‘Farewell dear Marianne.’
