Radio host Matt Pinfield had a ‘massive stroke,’ daughter confirms in conservatorship bid
Matt Pinfield, a previous MTV personality now radio host, experienced a stroke a few weeks ago, and the impact goes beyond just his work commitments, as stated by his daughter.
38-year-old Jessica Pinfield, daughter of the ex-music executive, declared in court papers submitted this week in Los Angeles County Superior Court that her father, aged 63, is no longer capable of managing his health and financial matters. On Monday, she filed a petition to assume the role of conservator for her father and his assets. Legal documents reveal that the senior Pinfield had a severe stroke on January 6, 2025.
A spokesperson from Pinfield, who has previously worked as an MTV VJ, told The Times that he is still in the hospital and currently under a short-term guardianship. However, they declined to provide any further details about his health status.
According to TMZ, Jessica Pinfield and her sister Maya, aged 24, have requested a court order to prevent outsiders from touching their father’s finances. At the time of The Times’ inquiry, a representative for Jessica declined to comment immediately.

Matt Pinfield expressed on an Instagram post dated January 6, which also happened to be the day of his stroke, that he was beginning another week with a sense of gratitude for a life filled with remarkable individuals, music that has significantly impacted him, and unforgettable experiences that he never takes for granted.
He added: “Here[‘s] to another week – another day – open heart and open mind. Let’s rock!”
On the day following Pinfield’s stroke, it was shared on Facebook by Los Angeles radio station KCSN the SoCal Sound (88.5 FM) that their afternoon host would be taking a brief break for personal matters without disclosing specific details about his health.
The station expressed their wholehearted backing for Matt and anticipates bringing his lively rock ‘n’ roll wisdom back on-air as soon as possible.

Music
Anita Dobson, Brian May’s wife, shared that he has been playing piano and acoustic guitar again following a minor stroke he experienced during the summer. Initially, he had trouble with mobility in his arm.
According to reports, radio station KLOS (95.5 FM) expressed support for Pinfield, who hosts their “New & Approved” program every Sunday evening. The statement released stated, “Matt is like family to us, and we eagerly await his return to the KLOS airwaves as soon as it can be arranged.
An initial appointment hearing for Pinfield’s conservatorship case is set for Feb. 6.
