Kevin Costner’s Shock: Ex’s Engagement News a Gut-Punch!

Kevin Costner was taken aback or shocked when he discovered that his former wife, Christine Baumgartner, was engaged to someone he viewed as a friend, Josh Connor, as reported by DailyMail.com.

49-year-old financier Connor proposed recently, during a private dinner, to his former wife Baumgartner – less than a year since their contentious divorce concluded.

Additionally, it appears that the proposal didn’t catch Costner off guard, as those close to him had anticipated it. However, he was taken aback when he learned about it, feeling betrayed, according to sources, since his kids were the ones who informed him of the news.

A confidant revealed to DailyMail.com on an exclusive basis that Kevin was taken aback, much like someone who had been unexpectedly hit, when his children informed him about their plans to propose marriage.

He mentioned that he would have found it more straightforward if Christine had shared the information herself. However, regardless of the source, the sentiment remains: it still feels like a breach of trust, even with the passage of time.

As for me, I’m thrilled to share that my dear friend recently had a birthday. It’s comforting to know they held off on the announcement for at least a week, giving us all a chance to celebrate privately first.

In the last few weeks, Costner, who recently celebrated his 70th birthday on January 18, has been spotted enjoying himself in various social outings, including events in Aspen, Colorado where he rubbed shoulders with celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Jeff Bezos, and other big-name personalities.

Recently, he revealed his latest television endeavor, titled “Yellowstone to Yosemite,” on the Fox News-operated streaming platform Fox Nation. This announcement came after his unexpected exit from the show “Yellowstone” last year.

The upcoming show, scheduled for release on February 8th, will trace the journey of an actor portraying President Theodore Roosevelt and naturalist John Muir during their 1903 expedition to Yosemite.

‘Kevin will do what he always does and that’s focus on his kids and his work,’ the source added. 

He will be debuting Horizon 2 at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, as his documentaries are set to release shortly; he also continues with his music endeavors and, without a doubt, his trusted companion Bobby is always by his side.

I’m truly grateful for that wonderful dog; he’s stood by Kevin during thick and thin, providing immense happiness not just for him but also for his children.

I couldn’t help but share my excitement when I discovered that Bobby made it onto the cover of Dogue Magazine, cementing his status as a bona fide star in his sphere.

Regarding dating, Kevin mentioned that it’s not something he’s focusing on at the moment. He clarified that he’s open to it, but nothing is actively planned or pursued for now; if it happens naturally, then so be it.

In a public display of affection, Costner has enthusiastically praised his newly adopted English Bulldog-Labrador mix, whom he brought home in December 2023.

The pup had supported him on the set several times and is often featured on his social media. 

In May 2023, after being married for 19 years and raising three children together, Costner (age 70) and Baumgartner (age 50) decided to separate. Later in the same year, Baumgartner began a new relationship with Connor (age 49).

According to People, the couple became formally betrothed on January 26, over a private meal in Santa Barbara.

As a devoted admirer, let me share this heartwarming tale from my own perspective. The sky was threatening, and everyone seemed to have fled the beach except for me, clinging onto every moment. Little did I know, that’s when Josh chose to make his move. With the raindrops holding back, he got down on one knee, making it a scene straight out of a movie, just for us.

The proposal didn’t catch the couple’s friends and family off guard; in fact, they had been expecting it. It was revealed that the two had spent the previous Christmas together, which marked the start of their relationship. They are elated and thrilled about their shared future.

11 months have passed since Costner and Baumgartner resolved their contentious divorce dispute, which involved numerous legal discussions concerning child and spousal support. The proposal was put forth during this period.

In the case at hand, both Costner and Baumgartner have expressed a mutual desire for shared custody of their three children. Notably, Baumgartner is currently receiving a monthly child support payment of $63,209 from her former partner – an amount that falls significantly short of the $165,000 she initially petitioned for.

Back in August, I found myself deeply moved by a heartfelt court case. As an ardent admirer, I couldn’t help but echo Christine’s passionate words. She asserted that the children had grown accustomed to a life of opulence, suggesting that their ‘affluent lifestyle’ was not just a choice, but seemed to be an inherent part of who they are – almost as if it were ingrained in their very DNA.

Baumgartner previously wanted to overturn her prenuptial agreement so she could  receive alimony.

According to their prenuptial agreement, she will receive a one-time payment of $1.5 million and coverage for a year’s mortgage payments on a house valued at up to $1 million.

However the judge rejected these protests and enforced the prenup. 

Baumgartner filed for divorce from Costner in May 2023 citing irreconcilable differences.

She was ordered to vacate Costner’s $145million Carpinteria compound two months later. 

In the span of their marriage, the ex-pair was blessed with three kids: Cayden (age 17), Hayes (age 15), and Grace (age 14).

In July 2023, Baumgartner was initially seen with Connor, who used to live near Costner, in Hawaii. Notably, Connor is also a divorced parent to three kids.

Their romance was confirmed in January 2024. 

It’s now been revealed by a source to Us Weekly that Costner believed there might have been something unusual between Christine and Josh.
