Amy Schumer Looks Chic After ‘Horrific’ Ozempic Experience

Amy Schumer looked fabulous in a figure-hugging black midi dress in New York City.

In my expert opinion on style, I opted for a sleek combination of a V-neck, long-sleeved dress paired with elegant black pumps and timeless black Wayfarer-style sunglasses.

The Kinda Pregnant star, 43, had her long blonde hair pulled back into a sassy ponytail.

She was seen exiting from the SiriusXM headquarters, which served as the venue for her Town Hall event while publicizing her latest comedy movie.

Amy, previously on Ozempic but forced to stop because of its side effects, joined her fellow cast members Brianne Howey, Jillian Bell, Lizze Broadway, and Urzila Carlson in a discussion led by host Bevy Smith.

In addition to the main cast, Will Forte and Damon Wayans Jr. will appear in the Netflix film set to debut on their streaming platform on February 5.

In the film, Amy portrays the character Lainy. When her aspirations for a stable family life are dashed, she resorts to wearing a phony baby belly, deceives someone, and unexpectedly develops feelings for her ideal man, as suggested by the plot summary.

Actress from “I’m So Pretty” appeared on the Howard Stern Show, discussing her personal encounter with Ozempic following Howard’s expressed distaste for the medication.

Ozempic is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized drug used for managing type 2 diabetes. It’s given as a weekly injection, which can be administered in your thigh, abdomen, or upper arm.

The term refers to a specific brand that contains semaglutide, a substance affecting feelings of fullness in the brain. Due to this mechanism, it’s gained significant attention as an effective method for rapid weight loss.

The comedian mentioned that she shed approximately 30 pounds during her use of a medication commonly employed for both managing diabetes and promoting weight loss.

In 2022, she began receiving a weekly injection, but shortly after, she experienced persistent vomiting and nausea regularly.

Afterward, it was discovered that Schumer carries the GDF15 gene, indicating her body produces unusually small amounts of the hormone GDF15. This hormone is responsible for triggering taste aversion, nausea, and vomiting, according to the HER Foundation.

The hormone is produced during pregnancy as well as ‘by organs under stress and by tumors.’

During my pregnancy, I experienced severe nausea due to the gene called GDF15 that I possess. This gene sensitivity was likely the reason for my sickness, as I shared during the latest episode of The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday.

The Trainwreck star’s GDF15 sensitivity affected her when she was using Ozempic.

She shared that about three years back, she started using Ozempic, and it left her feeling extremely unwell. She was often bed-bound, nauseous, and vomiting, with no energy to spare. Interestingly, she mentioned that other individuals take this medication and seem to be perfectly fine.

Although losing 30 pounds with the medication, Schumer mentioned that it hinders her from playing with her five-year-old son Gene.

In such a short time, I managed to shed 30 pounds. I felt fantastic, yet lifting my head from the pillow seemed too arduous, so why bother?”

“I dropped 30 pounds in no time at all. I looked marvelous, but raising my head from the pillow was more than I could manage, leaving me questioning the purpose.

Schumer playfully commented that the numerous benefits touted for Ozempic serve as “warning signs,” and even media mogul Oprah Winfrey, who openly uses a GLP-1 drug for weight loss, appears slimmer than radio host Howard Stern these days.

Ultimately, the Life & Beth star decided Ozempic was not for her due to her the side effects.

She replied, “Alright, this isn’t suitable for me,” but I quickly put money into it because I was certain that everyone would give it a try,” she concluded.

Star Unfrosted, too, voiced her thoughts regarding some famous figures falsely claiming they use Ozempic for weight loss.

‘Everyone has been lying saying, “Oh smaller portions.” Like shut the f*** up.

‘You are on Ozempic or one of those things or you got work done. Just stop,’ she said.

‘Be real with the people. When I got lipo, I said I got lipo,’ she added.
