Live updates from the FireAid concert with Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, No Doubt and more
As a movie critic, I recently attended an extraordinary event – the FireAid benefit concert. Just over three weeks ago, historic wildfires swept through Los Angeles, claiming 29 lives and reducing over 16,000 structures to ashes. This tragic event brought together more than two dozen of the music industry’s heavyweights, united by a shared purpose: to offer support and aid to those affected and to help prevent future fire disasters in Southern California. The organizers aptly titled it “an evening of music and solidarity.
Essentially, FireAid is hosting two events – one at Inglewood’s Intuit Dome and another nearby on Prairie Avenue at the Kia Forum. The lineup includes Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Green Day, Joni Mitchell, Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Wonder, Katy Perry, Peso Pluma, Stevie Nicks, No Doubt, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, among others. This event is being organized by a seasoned music industry team headed by Irving Azoff and his family. FireAid is set to kick off at 6 p.m. Pacific time and will be streamed live on various platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, Max, Apple TV+, Prime Video, and Twitch. Additionally, Connie and Steve Ballmer, who own the Clippers, the Intuit Dome, and the Forum, have promised to double all donations made during the event.
The Times’ Mikael Wood and August Brown are on site and will provide live updates as they happen.
