WWE WrestleMania 41 Night 1 Predictions: CM Punk Will BURY Cody Rhodes

In approximately three months, WWE WrestleMania 41 is approaching, and the WWE is en route to the Royal Rumble event this coming Saturday. Over the past weeks, numerous rivalries have been hinted at, and various matchups have been speculated over the last few months, leaving everyone curious about who might appear on this year’s WrestleMania card. However, before the winners of the Royal Rumble are determined, here are some early predictions for the potential lineup of matches for what promises to be one of the most thrilling pay-per-views of the year: WWE WrestleMania 41. To kick things off, let’s talk about who John Cena might face in his Farewell Tour match at WrestleMania.

John Cena vs. Drew McIntyre [Farewell Tour]

As a die-hard fan, I must admit there’s been quite a buzz about John Cena potentially winning the Royal Rumble and clinching his 17th World Title at WrestleMania this year. However, given that he hasn’t secured a singles victory since 2018, it seems questionable, bordering on poor writing decisions, to have him break Ric Flair’s record in such a manner. As Cena himself admitted, it would be nothing short of a miracle for him to achieve this feat.

Instead, I’d love to see a more compelling narrative unfold. Perhaps Cena could face numerous challenges throughout the year, battling adversity every step of the way before ultimately reaching his goal. His first hurdle might come in the form of Drew McIntyre, who could shatter Cena’s WrestleMania dreams by eliminating him from the Rumble Match, making the road to victory even more arduous and satisfying when he finally conquers it.

Jade Cargill & Naomi (c) vs. Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez vs. Damage Control vs. Nia Jax & Candice LeRae [Undisputed Women’s Tag Titles]

Given that Bianca Belair and Naomi continue to hold the tag team championship, it’s expected that Jade Cargill will make her comeback following the mystery car incident and aim for a spot in the tag title contest. WWE has previously paired both Bianca and Jade, as well as Bianca and Naomi, suggesting that they might now test out a team with Jade and Naomi. The upcoming WrestleMania event seems to be a significant opportunity for Damage Control, but it appears that Nia Jax and Candice LeRae, along with Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, are also eyeing a substantial consolation prize after their unsuccessful challenge for the World Title against Tiffany Stratton and Rhea Ripley.

War Raiders (c) vs. The New Day [World Tag Team Titles]

On Monday Night Raw, War Raiders remain Tag Team Champions, and it appears that The New Day, currently the main villain team, could pose the greatest challenge to their title reign. For The New Day to fully embody their heel role, a significant transformation on Big E is necessary, followed by a major win like the tag titles. Interestingly, they have never won the tag titles together at WrestleMania, making this the perfect opportunity for them to do so now.

Chelsea Green (c) vs. Jordynne Grace [U.S. Title]

It’s probable that Chelsea Green will enter Mania as the U.S. Champion. Some may doubt her victory, speculating that Piper Niven could betray Green and claim the title. However, there are whispers that Jordynne Grace is about to make a grand entrance with a strong backing, and toppling someone she shares extensive TNA history with could provide an excellent debut.

Bron Breakker (c) vs. Sheamus vs. Ludwig Kaiser vs. Ilja Dragunov vs. Finn Balor vs. Penta El Zero Miedo [IC Title: Ladder Match]

Due to a lack of defined direction for the Intercontinental Championship title match on Monday Night Raw, the wisest course seems to be featuring the top mid-tier wrestlers in a Ladder Match instead. Breakker has had rivalries with Sheamus, Ludwig Kaiser, and Ilja Dragunov throughout the year, and hinted at a confrontation with Penta El Zero Mideo on Raw as well. However, Finn Balor appears to require this win more urgently, given his recent loss in his significant feud with Damian Priest. There have been whispers about Balor’s projected push in 2025, and securing the Intercontinental Championship would underscore his separation from Judgment Day and his renewed focus on a solo career.

Kevin Owens vs. Randy Orton [Street Fight]

This contest appears to be a certainty, given the extended narrative between Kevin Owens and Randy Orton that has been carefully planned on SmackDown. Essentially, Kevin Owens sidelined Randy Orton with an injury to the neck, and Randy Orton is seeking retribution. He will exact his revenge at WrestleMania.

Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Bianca Belair [World Women’s Title]

While Charlotte remains the top contender to win the Royal Rumble for a second time, Bianca Belair is equally strong in contention for this honor this year. In fact, if Belair were to win, it would be quite fortuitous given that she didn’t claim the title during the pandemic-era Rumble in 2021. Despite being the current tag team champion, there are whispers that Belair will challenge Rhea Ripley for a singles world title this year. With no clear direction for Ripley’s title reign at present, a showdown between these two is an intriguing possibility for WrestleMania.

Cody Rhodes (c) vs. CM Punk [WWE Championship]

Last year, these two gentlemen were the last ones standing in the Royal Rumble match. However, when CM Punk got hurt and Cody claimed victory for two consecutive years, many spectators believed a surprise decision was made because they felt Punk should have emerged victorious the previous year. This year, it’s time for Punk to make amends for that missed opportunity, leverage his relationship with Paul Heyman, and challenge the current company’s frontman in a high-stakes match at WrestleMania for the industry’s top title. This potential showdown has been hinted at during the Royal Rumble finale, and WWE needs to capitalize on the momentum before interest in this rivalry wanes.
