Australian crime drama with Grantchester actor gets UK streaming home

The Australian crime drama titled “Critical Incident,” featuring actor Akshay Khanna from the show “Grantchester,” has secured its UK streaming platform.

Initially introduced in its home nation back in August, this series centers around a police officer chasing a juvenile criminal. Regrettably, an innocent bystander ends up sustaining severe injuries during the pursuit.

Fans in the UK can now watch all six episodes of the series on ITVX.

In the heart-pounding narrative of “Critical Incident”, I, as a spectator, find myself drawn into the intense pursuit of Senior Constable Zilficar ‘Zil’ Ahmed (Khanna) as he relentlessly chases Dalia (Zoe Boe). However, amidst the whirlwind of action, tragedy strikes when an innocent bystander is gravely injured in the ensuing chaos and confusion.

In a state of even greater shock, he discovers Dalia isn’t the culprit. As an in-depth investigation unfolds and public attention intensifies, his feelings of guilt grow heavier. In the midst of this weight, his colleagues subtly suggest that he should find some fault with Dalia instead.

The television series, titled “Critical Incident,” originates from the creative mind of Sarah Bassiuoni. She previously shared through the original network Stan that this drama delves into various interpretations and debates concerning law enforcement and crime.

This isn’t a police procedural or organized crime series. Instead, this show focuses on dramatic events that occur in the course of a police officer’s work, particularly when things don’t go as planned.

Similarly, the story revolves around the experience of being governed, which quite frequently, drove you into criminal activities.

This portrayal showcases the genuine essence of Western Sydney, capturing both its stunning aspects and harsh realities. It’s raw, it’s painful, but it also holds a glimmer of hope.

Apart from me, who took on the role of Josh in Grantchester last year, the series also features Roxie Mohebbi, known for her part as The Newsreader; Hunter Page-Lochard, recognized from Home & Away; Jackson Heywood, a familiar face from Neighbours; Jai Waetford, who graced our screens in Neighbours too; and Simone Kessell, best known for her role in Yellowjackets.
