Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon’s “relentlessly vulgar” new rom-com is now on Prime Video
The raunchy romantic comedy starring Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon is now available on Amazon Prime Video.
You’re warmly invited to a hearty laugh as we follow a father (Ferrell), who finds out that his daughter’s chosen venue for her wedding is already reserved, with the other party – managed by a wedding planner (Witherspoon) – being reluctant to change plans, setting the stage for a humorous confrontation.
The movie is available to watch for Prime Video subscribers globally as of today.
You’ve received an invitation with warm regards, but it seems the film has received a divided response from critics, currently rated as 47% positive on Rotten Tomatoes.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is described as an unfunny and crass production, where even the acting skills of Will Ferrell, Reese Witherspoon, and a talented ensemble couldn’t save it from being a failure.
IGN Movies stated that it was “excessively crowded”, clarifying: “There are an abundance of quirky side characters, numerous exaggerated antics, and far too much overly sweet emotion when the confrontations between these stressed-out troublemakers risk becoming too harsh.
Nevertheless, IndieWire posits that the storyline is overly expansive, but the movie thrives when it allows its gifted comedians to shine, which could be considered a minor triumph for a genre in need of such success.
You’re cordially invited to the latest film by writer-director Nicholas Stoller, known for his previous works like “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Bros.
In addition to the main star, there are others such as Geraldine Viswanathan, Meredith Hagner, Celia Weston, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Leanne Morgan, Jimmy Tatro, and Jack McBrayer.
Previously, Ferrell unveiled the Netflix documentary titled “Will & Harper“, which garnered praise from reviewers. This movie chronicles a journey taken by the celebrity and his long-time friend Harper Steele, who revealed her identity as a transgender woman following years of friendship.
You’re Cordially Invited is available to stream now on Prime Video globally.
