David Tennant Stars In New Stan Series The Hack
Streaming service Stan has announced its new Original series The Hack.
The presented series, jointly commissioned by ITV, is an engaging seven-episode drama that narrates the tale of the phone hacking scandal that eventually resulted in the shutdown of Britain’s most popular daily publication.
In my perspective, I delve into the intriguing narrative of the TV show, where I, as an ardent follower, find it skillfully intertwining two genuine accounts. Specifically, the role of investigative journalist Nick Davies, portrayed by David Tennant, unravels the scandal that rocked the News of the World.
Additionally, the storyline continues with former Metropolitan Police Detective Chief Superintendent Dave Cook, portrayed by Robert Carlyle, delving into an unresolved homicide case.
Additionally featured in the show is Toby Jones, portraying the role of the ex-Editor-in-Chief of The Guardian, Alan Rusbridger.
In addition to the main actors, we have Rose Leslie, Dougray Scott, Eve Myles, Adrian Lester, Kevin Doyle, Katherine Kelly, Neil Maskell, Lara Pulver, Lee Ingleby, and Pip Torrens joining the production.
Besides the main cast members, Nadia Albina, Lisa McGrillis, Sean Pertwee, Robert Bathurst, Richard Pepple, Ace Bhatti, Phil Davis, Charlie Brooks, and Steve Pemberton are all set to make appearances on the program as well.
The series has been written by BAFTA, Tony and Olivier award winning screenwriter Jack Thorne.
This production is helmed by BAFTA-winning director Lewis Arnold and boasts executive production from BAFTA and RTS award-winning Patrick Spence.
Stan’s Chief Content Officer, Cailah Scobie, stated that ‘The Hack’ is a significant and influential series which reflects Stan’s dedication to delivering premium and thought-provoking content to our viewers, in collaboration with ITV and a talented team including Jack, Lewis, Patrick, Jo, and Abi. This underscores Stan’s commitment.
The quality of this series is evident from its outstanding ensemble, headed by David Tennant, Robert Carlyle, and Toby Jones.
Screenwriter Jack Thorne refers to the series as an “enigmatic and misleading aspect of our modern past.
Initially, I assumed, being a politics enthusiast, I grasped all the events. However, I was mistaken. He made this clarification.
The revelation of the truth in this struggle left me astonished. Given our current era, where truth appears to be under greater threat than ever, it’s crucial to share this narrative.
Thorne went on to express his gratitude for getting the opportunity to collaborate with David, Robert, Toby, Lewis, Patrick, Joe, and Abi in telling this tale on the big screen.
I’m hoping we can effectively capture the intricacy of the events and honor the exceptional journalism hidden within them.
In the meantime, executive producer Patrick Spence expressed: ‘It’s evident that there are still many unresolved queries. Our production aims to be a part of that ongoing discussion about this subject.’
The Stan Original Series The Hack is coming soon, only on Stan.
