BBC’s Flog It and Antiques Roadshow star dies aged 65
BBC’s Flog It and Antiques Roadshow star Michael Baggott has died at the age of 65.
On both his official website and Instagram account, it was shared that the antique expert passed away following a heart attack, which occurred after he had a stroke. The announcement was accompanied by a confirmation of this unfortunate event.
I’m deeply saddened to announce that Michael passed away yesterday in the hospital due to a heart attack, which was a complication from a stroke he suffered in October.
He was cherished as a dear son, brother, cousin, and uncle, and his absence will be felt greatly. In the upcoming weeks, we will organize a memorial service to honor him; further information about this event will be announced here.
After suffering a stroke, Baggott posted a video from his hospital bed in December, causing some commenters to express worry about his well-being.
Over the past days, numerous tributes have been shared for the star, with Timothy Medhurst from Antiques Road Trip expressing his feelings: “It’s truly heartbreaking to read this post. He was a fountain of knowledge and always eager to share his insights, even on my basic questions, without any reservation.
I’m truly sorry, it was sad to learn about Michael. He was an esteemed expert and representative in the antiques world, a wellspring of information and always willing to share his knowledge. He was an engaging storyteller and simply a great guy overall. It was a pleasure knowing you, Michael,” expressed Nick Hall from Flog It!.
It is deeply unfortunate; my longtime acquaintance Michael and I have known each other for more than 25 years, during which time we were both employed at Sotheby’s. Mark Stacey
I’ll forever cherish his affection and eagerness to impart his antique wisdom. My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones. Farewell, Michael, may you rest in tranquility, surrounded by the elegance of silver.
Goodbye @baggottsilver. A towering presence in the antique world, often compared to ‘Arthur Negus’, and never shy about correcting an expert who made a mistake, even me.
Michael deserved significantly more airtime on television, as his passion for understanding the ‘internal object’ was worthy of a true and genuine subject matter expert.
