Drake Down Under: Rapper Lands in Melbourne

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must share that I’ve just landed in Melbourne, and boy, am I making some noise! That would be none other than the legendary Canadian rapper, Drake, setting the city alight with his presence.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement! The mastermind behind “God’s Plan,” aged 38, is about to launch his long-awaited Anita Max Win tour. Starting off at Perth’s RAC Arena from the 4th of February, he’ll rock the stage with back-to-back shows. Then, from the 9th to the 13th of February, I can hardly wait for four electrifying performances at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena! This is going to be unforgettable!

In simpler terms, Drake wrote on Instagram, “I believe we have arrived,” accompanied by a series of pictures showcasing his lavish life while on tour, which he shared on Wednesday.

The initial picture captures Drake, along with three individuals from his group, enjoying a meal at Nobu, mimicking a paparazzi snapshot.

Drake also filmed himself bounding down the steps of his private jet, with a red solo cup in hand.

In a casual outfit consisting of gray sweats, slippers, and a long-sleeved sports jersey, the music celebrity appeared carefree upon exiting the huge plane and entering the bright sunlight of Australia.

He flew into Melbourne on his Boeing 767, affectionately named ‘Air Drake.’

In 2019, the expensive aircraft worth approximately AU$297 million was generously presented to Drake by Cargojet. (Approximately US$185 million in US currency)

He has historically advocated for the use of large amounts of fuel, even on brief flights that are under 15 minutes long and typically cover short distances.

This extremely wealthy music tycoon is famously recognized for his flashy demonstrations of affluence and lavish living habits. His net worth, estimated at approximately US$250 million (AU$400 million), attests to his financial success.

At present, he resides at The Crown in Melbourne, to be precise, it’s the Presidential Villa on the topmost 38th floor of Crown Towers.

The grand suite encompasses approximately 1,000 square meters, and as reported by Australian Traveller, it carries a staggering minimum price tag of $25,000 per night.

In his collection of photos, Drake shared a glimpse of the luxurious living quarters he’s staying in, highlighting that among its amenities is a pair of spacious lounges, one boasting a massive TV that stretches from wall to wall.

The Presidential Villa features four bedrooms, including two bathrooms connected to the master bedroom, a personal massage room, and a dining room designed for up to twelve diners.

Alongside Drake, his group will enjoy the added benefits of having a dedicated limousine service, an around-the-clock on-demand support team, a personal fitness center, and a private attendant to cater to their needs.

Who are the individuals we’re acquainted with residing in Australia? Drake captioned a picture showing his security personnel leading him to his personal elevator this afternoon.

He spent his first hours Down Under in the Crown casino, banking an incredible amount of money.

On an Instagram post, the rapper snapped a picture showcasing his crotch area adorned with approximately $25,000 worth of casino chips. A total of around 22 chips were scattered over Drake’s lap in the photo, adding up to about half a million dollars ($550,000) in value.

He proudly announced, “I’ve received a welcome back pack in Melbourne!” Laughing, he added, “At last, an Australian casino is giving me some attention.” (with a laugh-cry emoji)

Apart from that, he additionally posted a Bananas in Pajamas animated series, a kangaroo boxing cartoon, and an old snapshot of him donning a Wallabies jersey while performing in Australia.

This upcoming tour represents the return of Drake to Australia after an absence of eight years, since his last performance in 2017 during the Boy Meets World tour.

As a devoted follower of Drake, I found myself wrestling with a tricky dilemma: His Australian tour kickoff coinciding with the NFL Super Bowl meant I might have to make a tough choice between my love for his music and the allure of sports.

Luckily, the Super Bowl will begin Monday, February 10 from 10.30am AEDT.

During the Super Bowl intermission, it’s been announced that Kendrick Lamar intends to perform his popular track ‘Not Like Us’, which is considered a rap rivalry number against Drake.

Over the summer, a song that allegedly implicates Drake as a predator spread like wildfire online, igniting a heated exchange between the two musicians.

While there’s been legal tension between me and my label, Universal Music Group, due to a dispute over a particular song, I’ve been told by trusted confidants that I’ll still be gracing the stage in New Orleans and performing that very track.

He doesn’t give much thought to Drake’s opinions on the song, considering it a success. Kendrick Lamar certainly won’t be silenced.

The U.S. Sun added that Drake has no legal basis to stop Lamar from performing the track.

This month, a federal defamation lawsuit was filed by a Canadian rapper against Universal Music Group. He claimed they were propagating a ‘baseless and harmful story’ implying he was a child molester, according to an initial report from TMZ.

In court papers, Drake alleges that Universal Music Group (UMG) was aware that Lamar’s diss track contained lyrics and visuals in its accompanying music video which implied Drake as a pedophile.

Additionally, he claimed that UMG tolerated such inflammatory and offensive statements about the song since it proved to be a lucrative venture for their company.

As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t help but share this intriguing tidbit: A legal tussle, not aimed at Lamar himself, alleges that Universal Music Group (UMG) paid an external entity to manipulate the streams of one of his songs. The accusation is that they artificially boosted it by a staggering 30 million plays, using bots no less! Isn’t it fascinating how the music industry can sometimes work behind the scenes?
