Netflix’s Thursday Murder Club movie confirmed for 2025 release

Netflix has confirmed a 2025 release window for The Thursday Murder Club movie.

In September 2024, while discussing the big-screen adaptation of his first novel, Richard Osman mentioned that the film is expected to release by the following year.

Instead, let me put it this way: Netflix has given its fans an authentic update by unveiling a trailer showcasing the upcoming TV series and films for the year. Among them is The Thursday Murder Club.

As of now, I don’t have an exact release date, but Osman hinted that we might see the movie sometime this summer or fall. What’s more exciting is that he mentioned the film would hit theaters first before being available for streaming.

As a fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the new movie directed by Chris Columbus, known for his work on “Home Alone.” This time around, it’s not about a mischievous kid; instead, we follow a group of friends residing in a retirement home who enjoy solving mysteries together as a pastime. However, they stumble upon a real-life case and find themselves right in the thick of things!

In the lead roles, we have Helen Mirren, Celia Imrie, Pierce Brosnan, and Ben Kingsley. The talented ensemble of secondary characters includes David Tennant, Naomi Ackie, Jonathan Pryce, Danny Mays, and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.

More recently, Osman has shared his reasons for not contributing to the movie’s screenplay, as he chose to pass on the responsibility to Columbus and Katy Brand instead.

In an interview with BBC’s Bookclub earlier this month, I chose deliberately because I find that one is either deeply engrossed or not at all. frankly, I prefer investing my time in crafting another story rather than delving into all of that, so I happily let them carry on by themselves.

At present, Osman is penning the fifth installment of his series, and he’s hinted that it includes an inside joke related to the upcoming movie adaptation of the “Thursday Murder Club.

The Thursday Murder Club will release in cinemas in 2025, before arriving on Netflix.
