Queen Of Versailles Mansion FINALLY Almost Done After 21 Years
Jackie Siegel, famously known from the hit documentary “The Queen of Versailles,” shares with her audience the current situation of her grand mansion, more than twenty years since its building process commenced.
On Sunday, the socialite aged 58 shared a brief video on her Instagram, offering a glimpse into a significant part of her estimated $100 million mansion.
Hey everyone! Given the curiosity I’ve noticed among many of you regarding Versailles, I thought I’d share a glimpse with you all! We’re edging nearer… ❤️👸,” she wrote in her post.
In 2020, as Siegel had previously stated, the grand estate remained stocked with construction materials, and the faint sounds of laborers could be detected nearby.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but gush over my favorite residence, affectionately dubbed “Florida’s Versailles.” This architectural marvel draws its name from the grand French palace, and it truly lives up to that prestigious title with an astounding 14 bedrooms and a whopping 30 bathrooms! It stands among the priciest real estate in the United States, leaving even the most extravagant of us commoners in awe.
Nevertheless, the remarkable lavishness of the estate, serving exclusively as the primary residence for Siegel and her husband David Siegel along with their seven children, has prolonged its construction for many years.
In the video, Siegel shared that she was currently at Versailles and was moving nearer to her destination. She captured this footage herself.
She went on to say, “We’re nearly wrapping things up,” as she gestured with her camera towards the spacious room from the balcony.
Instead of flaunting opulent elegance like the grand mansion, Siegel stood modestly, adorned in a high-collared, fiery red ensemble and a coat embellished with oversized golden buttons.
Or:
Contrasting the extravagant splendor of the megamansion, Siegel was dressed simply but elegantly in a scarlet garment with a high neckline and a coat decorated with large golden buttons.
The room seemed magnificent, boasting intricate gold-accented ceilings and a vast, circular stained-glass skylight at its heart. Suspended beneath this, there was a lavish chandelier.
The space looked impressive, featuring beautifully crafted golden vaulted ceilings and a significant, round stained-glass feature right in the center of the roof, under which an elegant chandelier was suspended.
The large, rectangular room was adorned with numerous balconies, making it an excellent vantage point for observing a gathering from above.
On one side of the room, there was a grand, split staircase that ascended to the second floor. However, instead of using the stairs, Siegel preferred taking the elevator for going down.
She moved her camera horizontally, initially towards the right to bring attention to the ornate gold trim around the arched ceiling, yet this angle also showcased the extent of work still needed to be done.
A modest structure of scaffolding had been constructed on the balcony for a craftsman to work on the moldings, while the marble staircase seemed partially completed, yet the railings were still under construction.
On the ground, long lines of spilled painter’s tape run from one end to another, and various construction materials such as crates, scaffolding, and other debris are strewn about in a messy manner.
‘It still has a little bit of work,’ she said as she turned to leave.
Nearly losing grip on her video, Siegel extended an arm to prevent the elevator door from shutting, and upon entering, she disclosed that the very same door was adorned with painter’s tape – a sign that work was still ongoing to furnish her family’s dream home, Xanadu.
As a devout admirer, I’d like to share that around 2004, the visionary couple who established Westgate Resorts Ltd., a renowned timeshare resort company based in Florida, embarked on a construction project. This endeavor was none other than Versailles, situated within the secure community of Lake Butler Sound, nestled in vibrant Orange County, Florida.
2009 saw a pause in the project as it was still less than fully finished, primarily because of financial troubles that arose from David’s business during the 2007-2008 global financial crisis.
After the release of the 2012 documentary “The Queen of Versailles,” the extravagant mansion was listed for sale at a price tag of $65 million, sparking widespread interest.
In this movie, skillfully crafted by director Lauren Greenfield, the audience and critics alike found it compelling. The film was highly appreciated for its unique ability to criticize the Siegels’ affluence while simultaneously portraying them with empathy, as they grappled with reining in their expenses during economic downturns.
Once more, I found myself captivated as I tuned into the enthralling continuation of Jackie’s reign, titled “Queen of Versailles Reigns Again,” which made its grand debut on Discovery+ at the start of 2022. Later in the year, it graced the screens of HBO Max. As an ardent fan, I simply couldn’t resist delving deeper into Jackie’s extraordinary life!
By 2013, David’s business had found a steady footing, enabling him to purchase the property in full and carry on with its development.
Over time, predicted deadlines for finishing have passed by, but let me clarify that in 2013, there was speculation about completing it in 2016. However, this timeline was adjusted and the new target date became 2020.
2022 saw Hurricane Ian causing extensive damage estimated at over $10 million to the city of Versailles, as reported by Jackie.
Additionally, she told TMZ that it was predicted the construction at her megamansion would be completed in 2023, but only a short while before the hurricane hit the property.
The exact completion date for the project remains uncertain, but the extravagant design elements inside might account for some of the hold-ups.
In January 2024, it was disclosed that Siegel constructed a replica of a luxury private jet’s interior within her mega-mansion, allowing her to indulge in caviar and champagne at her leisure anytime.
Nevertheless, following criticism from fans about the extravagant display, she explained that the decorated airplane cabin was actually prepared for a memorial party in memory of her stepdaughter Victoria, who passed away due to a drug overdose in 2015.
