Snoop Dogg addresses backlash over Trump inauguration performance
Snoop Dogg seemed unyielding when it appeared he was addressing those who had criticized his recent performance at the celebration for President Donald Trump’s inauguration last week.
On Sundays, a well-known 53-year-old rapper posted a video on Instagram that seemed to show him puffing on something resembling a blunt, even though he was actually stationary in his car at the moment.
‘For all the hate, I’m going to answer with love,’ he said after taking a few puffs.
Calvin Broadus Jr., known as Snoop, drew flak from fans and Trump critics for his performance at the Inaugural Crypto Gala on January 17, an event for crypto executives that also featured Soulja Boy and Rick Ross. However, Nelly performed at a later event called the Liberty Ball on January 20.
Tech industry leaders, with a focus on cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence, were strong supporters of Trump. However, this week saw significant losses in the hundreds of billions for these sectors following a crash in their stock prices. The decline occurred after a new Chinese generative AI service was introduced at a much lower cost compared to the previously prominent American counterparts.
In simpler terms, “Focus on sorting out your own life, don’t concern yourself with mine. I’m doing fine. I’ve got everything under control,” Snoop said casually in the video, without explicitly referring to the inauguration or Trump by name.

He asserted, “I remain African-American, fully so.” His statement continued, “Giving my all until you succeed or until you fail.
Yesterday, Snoop talked about the criticism he faced following his performance commemorating Trump’s victory at the R&B Money podcast.
He mentioned, ‘When you reach the peak, you’ll encounter hate, regardless of who you are.’ His method for handling such situations is simple: ‘I respond with success and love. That’s my approach to any hostility and negativity directed towards me, as I believe these powerful forces can overcome it.’
Despite Chronic the rapper defending his appearance at the pro-Trump rally, it seems that he hasn’t openly declared his backing for a second term of President Trump. However, some of his supporters have taken his latest performance to mean an endorsement.
Photos of Snoop mugging with MAGA figures also haven’t endeared him to many of his longtime fans.
Shortly after his performance in DC, fans lambasted him on X (formerly Twitter).
One user commented, ‘2Pac was often correct about Snoop Dogg; he’s always been playing multiple sides for money and recognition, shaking my head (smh).’
The user has removed all Snoop Dogg’s songs from their playlists, blocked him on their accounts, and stated they won’t listen to his music anymore because they discovered he’ll be performing for the traitors on Monday.

A third person added, “I wouldn’t have expected it, but even Snoop Dogg knelt before Donald Trump. I can only imagine how different his crip walk will look from now on.
In the throes of my fandom, I must admit it left me utterly stunned – the very same rapper who fiercely opposed Trump during his initial term gracing the stage at his pre-inauguration event. Quite a contrast, wouldn’t you say?
In September 2018, the artist known for Drop It Like It’s Hot criticized Trump supporters in a conversation with DJ Suss One on his SiriusXM program.
Following the host’s comment about possible Snoop Dogg supporters being inclined towards Trump, he fiercely countered by labeling them as bigots instead.
‘I speak frankly to them. If someone prefers that person, I would say they are being prejudiced or discriminatory in their choices. I strongly disagree with such attitudes and behavior.’
He then accused Trump of having divided Americans with his rhetoric.
In his opinion, prior to him drawing a boundary, there was no distinction among individuals; everyone was treated equally and respected everything without causing any issues. However, once he established that line, people began singling out others and causing trouble… I must say, it’s disappointing.
He reserved special fury for the disgraced rapper Kanye West.
‘He also mentioned Kanye, saying, “Don’t forget about him either.” He expressed his feelings by adding, “I’ll include him as well.” He’s going to put Kanye in the same group because he aligns with them.’
