Gok Wan’s Surprise New Job: Fashion Guru Turns Radio Host with Cake and Balloons Welcome

On Monday, Gok Wan started his first day at his new role as host for Magic FM’s morning program, where he received a friendly welcome from his coworkers.

The stylish individual, aged 50, took a seat next to Harriet Scott following the departure of Ronan Keating, who decided to part ways with the radio station after a seven-year tenure.

He made quite an impact wearing an all-black ensemble, featuring a double-breasted black reefer jacket paired with a black shirt and completing the look with black denim pants.

Gok finished off his outfit with white Nike sneakers featuring a black Swoosh symbol, a broad black neck scarf, and black square-framed sunglasses with bright orange lenses.

Harriet, who is 53 years old, gave her newly assigned co-presenter a cake that had a photo of them on it, along with balloons featuring images of both their faces.

While Gok was starting his tenure with excitement, other team members donned masks featuring Gok’s likeness instead.

As Gok kicked off his time in charge with enthusiasm, fellow team members put on masks showing Gok’s face.

These sentences convey the same meaning while using simpler and more natural language to make them easier to read.

At the London studios, they warmly welcomed the new host with an actual red carpet, and upon his arrival, Harriet embraced him.

The choice to employ the TV host was influenced, in part, by his confident performances alongside Harriet during the time when Ronan was absent last year. Managers pointed out their ‘outstanding synergy’ as a key factor.

To kick off the broadcast, Gok expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m thrilled to be here – it’s our debut show! It certainly feels unique, good morning everyone!

Our aim is to center the entire Breakfast show around you, sharing your experiences as well as ours, fostering a deeper understanding between us.

The fashion expert interacted with the audience using a game similar to “Getting to Know You with Gok.

He revealed that he is scared of static electricity and is a self-proclaimed ‘petrol head’.

Before appearing on his morning show from 6 am to 10 am, Gok admitted that he might need some time to get used to an earlier wake-up call as a nocturnal person who has to rise at 4 am during the workweek.

Ronan stepped back from the show in June to focus on his family.

In September 2017, the star joined Harriet as a co-host on the morning program, and while he’s stepping down from hosting the weekday show, he reassured fans that he will continue to be part of the Magic Radio family.

Previously, Gok expressed his feelings about his new position by saying, “I can’t contain my enthusiasm for being part of the Magic Radio Breakfast team. Working alongside this incredible crew has been a joy, and I’ve truly enjoyed connecting with our wonderful audience.

I’ve developed a deep affection for radio, and I don’t find the early mornings a hassle since I’m a morning person by nature! Join us every day as we embark on an exciting journey together. We’d love for you to be part of our daily fun!

‘Harriet is a wonderful co-host and I can’t wait for our Magic to happen!’

Harriet has been just as excited for Gok to join her in the studio.

She expressed that she believes our audience will enjoy starting their days with Gok as much as she does. We’re all excited for the adventures we’ll share together in 2025, and she can hardly contain her excitement!
