Lisa Wilkinson Starstruck by Liam Hemsworth at Australian Open: You Won’t Believe What Happened!

On Monday, Lisa Wilkinson found herself spellbound when she caught a glimpse of the handsome Australian actor Liam Hemsworth at the Australian Open’s sidelines.

A seasoned media figure aged 65 posted on Instagram a snapshot of Liam (age 35) in close proximity with the renowned Hong Kong-born action actor and director, Jackie Chan.

Previously famed interviewer, with a rich resume of speaking to A-list celebrities in the entertainment industry, appeared taken aback upon securing seats barely meters from the star of The Hunger Games.

‘She posted on Instagram, ‘Hemsworth at home, with a touch of Jackie Chan-style action,’ (sounding a bit awkward)’

Afterward, Lisa expressed her amazement with an emoticon featuring Kristen Wiig’s “wow” expression, indicating her thrill at nearly encountering a celebrity, even though she has met countless famous figures during her lengthy profession spanning several decades.

On Sunday, I found myself present at the Ralph Lauren Marquee during the AO, and I was delighted to be accompanied by my radiant partner, Gabriella Brooks.

The well-known actor snuggled closely next to the 28-year-old charm during a photo opportunity, both adorning identical outfits, as they stood before the media backdrop.

They were later spotted in the stands, seated in the same row as Jackie Chan.

Renowned for his string of blockbuster movies in the ’90s, the movie director, stunt performer, and actor made a notable visit to the Australian Open during the weekend.

As a devout fan, I had the privilege of participating in a lively dragon dance event outside Rod Laver Arena during the 2025 Australian Open in Melbourne, Australia. The renowned Hong Kong action movie star was there, radiating an upbeat and cheerful energy that made the whole experience even more captivating.

The 70-year-old got among the costumed performers, laughing heartily as he joined in the dance.

It comes after Lisa shared a look back at her life earlier this month as she faces a new horizon.

On Sunday, the popular TV personality shared an Instagram video highlighting events from 2022 and beyond, as her agreement with Channel Ten comes to a close.

With my time at Channel Ten now behind me (and the past few years having presented some tough moments), I still have many fond memories,” she wrote on her caption.

‘Here’s to 2025, and new beginnings,’ she added.

Lisa’s photos included glimpses at her time on The Project, which she left in November 2022.

The photos showed Lisa posing alongside Delta Goodrem, as well as Olivia Newton-John and her daughter Chloe Lattanzi.)

She also smiled brightly when she snapped a delightful selfie with her ex-colleague Carrie Bickmore, who like her has moved on from The Project, and snuggling with Hamish Macdonald too.

Following a two-year sabbatical earning approximately $1.7 million annually, Lisa’s tenure at Channel Ten concluded quietly during the Christmas break.

Her multi-year contract lapsed on New Year’s Eve and wasn’t renewed.

In the year 2018, following a high-profile wage disagreement at Channel Nine, Lisa decided to connect with a new network, as she found out that her fellow host on Today, Karl Stefanovic, was being paid much more than herself.

Everything was going well when she signed a new deal with Ten in 2021.

However, only a year after, she chose to resign from her position as The Project’s host, which was her only on-screen role, due to the intense and focused media scrutiny she was subjected to.

For the past two years, even though she was absent from our screens, she still received a monthly salary from Ten, a network that has largely been overlooked by the television industry. This continued even amidst widespread cost-cutting measures.

Lisa has since since been slowly building back her public image.

According to reports, it seems that Lisa is planning to come back to television after several months of absence and a five-week stint in the courtroom, sources indicate.

A well-known personality from Channel 10, who was once a beloved figure on morning television, is eager to resume conducting impactful interviews in the upcoming year, according to reports made to The Weekend Australian by close associates.

Recently, she found herself involved in a legal dispute with Bruce Lehrmann, who had filed a lawsuit against Network 10 and Lisa, regarding an interview with Brittany Higgins that aired on The Project and was also available online.

During the last five weeks of the judicial calendar, the defamation case unfolded in court. Judge Lee has delayed his verdict on the case.

As a devoted admirer, I’ve noticed that my friend Lisa seems to be benefiting from her court appearances, as they’ve been providing her with a steady flow of media attention.

According to former executive Peter Meakin speaking with The Weekend Australian, it seems unlikely that people would have forgotten her after some time away from television.

‘I’m sure her loyal followers will remain loyal.’

Network Ten maintains they are in talks to develop ‘other projects’ with Lisa.
