Oscars 2025 nominations as they’re announced

The initial announcements for the Oscars at the 97th Academy Awards are being made, with the event scheduled for March.

This year’s nominations are anticipated to include several titles such as “Conclave”, “The Brutalist”, “Wicked”, “Emilia Pérez” and “The Substance”. These nominations have been pushed back approximately a week because of the Los Angeles wildfires.

This year, Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang will be revealing the nominees, divided into two parts, with the second segment commencing approximately at 1:41 PM in the UK.

This upcoming event, known as the Oscars, is set for this coming Sunday, March 2nd. Conan O’Brien steps in to replace Jimmy Fallon as the ceremony’s host. In the United Kingdom, viewers can catch it live on ITV1 and ITVX, their streaming platform.

Documentary Short Subject

1. Death Toll – Instead of “Death By Numbers,” you can use “Death Toll” as it conveys the same meaning, referring to the number of people who have died.

2. Gatekeeper – Instead of “I Am Ready Warden,” you can say “Gatekeeper.” This term is more commonly used and implies someone who controls or monitors access to a particular place or situation.

3. Mishap – Instead of “Incident,” you can use “Mishap” which refers to an unfortunate or unplanned event, often with negative consequences.

4. Heartbeat Monitor – Instead of “Instruments of a Beating Heart,” you can say “Heartbeat Monitor.” This is more straightforward and easier to understand, as it directly refers to the device used to measure a heart’s beating.

5. Soloist – Instead of “The Only Girl in the Orchestra,” you can use “Soloist” which specifically refers to an individual who performs alone within a group or ensemble, such as an orchestra. This term highlights her unique position within the group without explicitly stating her gender.
