Rock Concert Ceiling Collapse Injures Fans: Festival Hall Speaks Out
At Festival Hall in Melbourne, attendees were shocked and distressed on Wednesday evening as several individuals suffered injuries due to a portion of the ceiling collapsing during the concert.
People went to witness Bad Omens, an American heavy metal band, perform live at the venue. Unfortunately, during their set, a falling tile unexpectedly dropped towards the excited audience below.
The location shared on Instagram that they conducted extra safety precautions for the Thursday evening performance following the incident they experienced.
In response to news circulating about an accident and claims of injuries from fans, Festival Hall tackled the issue of the ceiling collapse through its social media platforms.
The venue posted a statement on Thursday ahead of the second Bad Omens concert in Melbourne.
In reference to the electrifying Bad Omens concert we witnessed last night at Festival Hall, I’d like to express my gratitude towards the dedicated first aid team who were prompt in their response. They truly made a difference.
We’ve swiftly inspected our special effects provider and implemented extra safety measures ahead of this evening’s performance.
‘We look forward to seeing you tonight!’
Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Festival Hall for further comment.
Supporters unfortunately found amidst the rubble were reportedly hurt to different degrees, with two appearing soaked in blood and a third suffering broken or fractured digits.
Towards the conclusion of Bad Omens’ performance, there was a burst of confetti from a cannon that seemed to knock something loose from the ceiling.
I shared footage on TikTok that, unfortunately, resulted in ceiling tiles crashing down onto the crowd below. Some dedicated followers of mine reported getting hurt due to the falling debris.
One individual stated, “My buddy sustained an injury to her hand, possibly causing soft tissue damage and potentially breaking or fracturing some fingers. Understandably, she’s angry about it.
A supporter stated that his sibling got hurt but fortunately there were no fractures; however, she is quite uncomfortable and requires some time away from work.
One attendee asserted, “It was truly unfortunate,” as they shared their account of two women allegedly being injured during the event.
Two young women were forcibly brought into view near me; one appeared injured around her mouth and neck, while the other had a wound on her knee. This was reportedly what was stated.
‘A bunch of people in the area were scrambling to get out.’
A different spectator informed Wall of Sound Australia that they too got hurt during the same occurrence, and due to a nearby concert-attendee, they found themselves splattered with blood.
They stated that they were filming on Snapchat at the time, and when the incident occurred, their video automatically stopped because they were struck, causing their phone to fly approximately a meter away from them as they fell to the ground.
‘I was covered in blood from the girl next to me and she was very out of it.
It appeared as though she was focusing on the confetti, and when I tried to catch some of it with my hand, it instead flew straight into her face.
They added that they needed to visit the hospital to address their wounds, obtain a medical document for a brief absence, and monitor the healing process.
‘Venue people seemed to care very little but the paramedics on scene were amazing,’ they added.
As the event transpired among the audience, Bad Omens appeared oblivious, carrying on with the remainder of their performance undisturbed, even delivering an encore afterwards.
