Given that dual operatives have often been excellent choices in the game meta, acquiring Yao – Nightglow will likely provide a significant and gratis enhancement to your combat abilities. Furthermore, the complimentary Zephyr Squad logistics set comes pre-equipped with respectable stat rolls, alleviating much of the hassle associated with farming for logistics resources. In some cases, indeed, you can have your cake and enjoy it too!
Selectors and Reruns
SSR Operative Selector
On January 28th (UTC+8), you’ll receive this item directly to your in-game mail, giving you the opportunity to acquire any operator that was introduced in version 1.8 or its previous updates.
Rerun Selector Banners
During this event, you’ll have the chance to re-run The Fantasies of Yore special operative and Durin’s Masterwork special weapon banners. Here’s how it works: Initially, you pick two items from each banner as your target pulls. After that, these banners function like any other limited banner, with one of the two items you selected being the featured, enhanced item. You can switch between your chosen items at any time. Importantly, your choices for each banner are separate, so you don’t have to select Lyfe – Infinite Sight’s signature weapon Nightborne Crown on the weapon rerun banner if you’ve already chosen Lyfe – Infinite Sight on the operative rerun banner.
What Do I Pick?
With the SSR selector and customizable rerun banners at your disposal, you can swiftly boost your account with potent acquisitions. However, it’s equally feasible for you not to do so. Fortunately, you can continue reading here to receive my personal suggestions on whom would be the best investment of your New Year’s financial prosperity.
Available on Selector
In versions 1.8 or below, these agents and their weapons were made available, making them more enticing due to a unique feature. You can select an agent using your SSR selector, and then try your luck on the rerun banner for their signature weapon. This combination of character and weapon can be obtained at nearly half the regular gacha cost. However, even though it’s a good deal, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s worth acquiring.
Acacia – Kaguya & Pine Aurora
In Snowbreak, there isn’t a stronger testament to the enduring worth of a reliable support character than Kaguya. Launched as the game’s initial limited operative, she continues to be an exceptionally effective damage facilitator, capable of functioning in nearly any scenario. For beginners, she would likely be your ideal choice.
Her main weapon, Pine Aurora, isn’t as effective unfortunately. Even after being improved, it’s more of a premium choice and doesn’t become truly powerful until tier 2 or when used to aid a Frost DPS. Interestingly, the underperformance of her signature weapon actually makes Kaguya an even stronger recommendation because she’s so good without it.
Verdict: Still as good as ever, but maybe pass on the gun unless you know what you’re doing.
Chenxing – Ethereal Cloud & Anti-Evil Ward
Chenxing’s Ethereal Cloud version was once the top choice for sustained damage operators in the game, however, it has been surpassed by more contemporary damage options. She excels at destroying bosses like Hela who fit her part-targeting niche, but her advantage diminishes quickly in other competitive scenarios.
As a dedicated admirer, I’d say that while Chenxing’s unique tool, the Anti-Evil Ward, may not be universally applicable, it’s one of those items that truly defines her character. Without her, it seems less enticing to acquire it on its own.
Verdict: Luxury tech option for veteran players.
Haru – Absconditus & 16-Psyche
Haru often seems to be a character designed to solve an issue that doesn’t really exist, and this problem has grown larger as DPS (Damage Per Second) releases continue to become more powerful. This development diminishes the unique value of Haru’s role in mobbing situations. When you compare her abilities with those of operatives available during reruns or even the SSR (Super Rare) selector, it becomes evident that Haru doesn’t offer much beyond being an appealing character.
16-Psyche is primarily associated with Haru, and personally, I don’t think it’s her optimal weapon selection (a nod to Star Ocean). In my view, there’s no need to use it.
Verdict: Trophy waifu
Mauxir – Shadow Ka & Alloy Truth
Currently, Njall is being handled during the ongoing Neural Simulation rotation, causing trouble for many players. I’ve noticed that most of these players either lack Mauxir – Shadow Ka or are not fully aware of her support skill, which allows them to bypass Njall’s damage reduction entirely, making the battle much simpler and quicker. To this day, Mauxir’s ability to simplify battles and focus on eliminating a specific enemy remains crucial, even with the addition of numerous invulnerability-spamming bosses since her debut. She is often considered the second-best choice among all available picks, and can be an attractive alternative to Kaguya for those focusing more on Neural Simulation optimization.
Regarding her iconic weapon, Alloy Truth, let’s recycle the illustration I used when I penned my previous guide.
This weapon is generally considered the top choice for support in the game, and it’s versatile enough to be used effectively by almost any SMG operator with a useful support skill. It has become more popular among SMG operatives than rhinos in a nature reserve, and that’s because it’s exceptionally good.
Verdict: Whether it’s Mauxir, her gun, or both, you can’t really go wrong.
Tess – The Magician & Eccentric Joker
If you’re aiming to expand your collection of Neural Simulation tools, Tess is an essential addition due to her capability to supply U-Energy to your DPS team members, ensuring they have the energy required for optimal performance, and also providing powerful damage boosts to swiftly conclude battles.
If you prefer a more relaxed playstyle, Tess might not suit your needs. The issue with her speeding up the battle tempo is that when her buffs expire, they won’t recharge quickly, reducing her overall usefulness in regular content for quite some time.
In a nutshell, her top weapon, the Eccentric Joker, combines the advantages of her second-best choices, Wasp (increased energy generation) and Deep Sea’s Call (damage boost), into one single option. If Tess is beneficial to your gameplay, then the Eccentric Joker is definitely a wise choice. Just like I suggested during its previous rerun half a year ago, I am making the same recommendation now. However, I must confess that despite my earlier advice, I have yet to acquire it myself. That was certainly not one of my wisest decisions.
Don’t be like me.
Verdict: A Neural Simulation staple.
Katya – Blue Bolt & Neptune Nova
Katya is an exceptional Damage Per Second (DPS) character, yet not the one you’re thinking of. Although her Dawnwing variation dominates in terms of damage, the original Blue Bolt suit has been outclassed by more recent characters. There’s nothing inherently flawed with her abilities; she simply isn’t dealing enough damage to be considered competitive within the current game meta.
Among all operatives, only Blue Strike possesses the skill to wield crossbows, and her primary weapon, Sea Surge, lacks an alternate user. This unique connection between Blue Strike and Sea Surge significantly emphasizes her effectiveness in combat. Given the current precarious situation she finds herself in, it’s crucial to consider whether this singularity is beneficial or detrimental to her capabilities.
Verdict: The wrong Katya for the job.
Eatchel – The Cub & Blitzing Fangs
It’s often suggested that Eatchel is beneficial for beginners due to her consistent healing abilities, but I have a different perspective. To put it simply, at its core, Eatchel is like a mobile health pack. While she offers robust defensive capabilities, she doesn’t significantly boost a player’s offensive potential. Instead, I believe that the thrill of annihilating enemies lies in dealing fatal blows rather than merely avoiding death.
Therefore, I propose that novice players opt for established support characters such as Acacia – Kaguya or Mauxir – Shadow Ka instead. These characters offer more powerful initial abilities that remain useful even as you advance through the game.
In terms of advancement, experienced gamers could potentially maximize the potential of Eatchel more effectively since they usually possess the resources required for enhancing her abilities to serve as an efficient offensive supporter. This would then allow them to capitalize on the significant attack boosts she offers.
If you’re aiming to boost the strength of your character’s abilities, Blitzing Fangs will likely be at the top of your wish list. This weapon transforms its passive healing into persistent damage enhancements for added impact. Although healers like Eatchel can manage without it, this weapon is a must-have if you aim to have your character making a significant impact in combat.
Verdict: A crutch for beginners and a powerful tool for veterans.
Cherno – Enigma & Uninvited Adieu
Initially, Cherno was the game-changing DPS character who disrupted the dominance of Snowbreak’s meta. She is unquestionably an exceptional SSR DPS pick. However, if you’re seeking a single new DPS, it could be more beneficial to consider Lyfe – Infinite Sight on the rerun banner instead. While Cherno’s orbs continue to explode for substantial damage, there have been some doubts about her future competitive strength, making it challenging to give her an unconditional recommendation as in the past.
If you choose to acquire Cherno, it’s clear that you’d also be interested in her unique weapon, Uninvited Adieu. This weapon significantly boosts her damage output, making it the most significant performance enhancement seen so far between event and gacha weapons.
Conclusion: Although it has lost some of its initial luster, this star continues to shine brilliantly. If you’re not aiming for Lyfe – Infinite Sight, it’s the top DPS choice here.
Enya – Exuvia & Abyssal Light
Do you use skill DPS operatives?
Do you like doing more damage?
If you affirm for both questions, Enya might be an excellent choice for you. While she’s not as widely popular as Acacia – Kaguya and Mauxir – Shadow Ka, her ability in delivering damage support is unrivaled. With so many enhanced skill DPS operatives out there today, choosing her isn’t a bad decision at all. Compared to the other option, she seems like a better fit.
When contrasted with alternative handgun supports such as Acacia – Kaguya, Enya’s signature weapon Abyssal Light stands out as a far more persuasive choice for spending its cost. This difference is evident when compared to free options like Prismatic Igniter and Tribute of Rose, making it a sensible pick for the discerning Adjutant aiming to achieve maximum skill damage output.
Verdict: As good as it currently gets for dedicated skill damage supports.
Only Available In Rerun Selector
As a gamer, I’ve got to shell out my saved resources on these items, and that makes the overall deal seem a bit less attractive. But let me clarify, it doesn’t mean it’s never a smart move.
Siris – Ksana & Crowned Flail
Siris, who was previously the third-best damage per second (DPS) character, is back, but the difference between bronze and silver performances turns out to be more substantial than anticipated. Although her raw damage figures remain strong, it takes longer for her to achieve those numbers, leading to a gradual weakening of her competitive edge. Despite being as effective as ever in general content, Siris now finds it challenging to stand out due to the increased expectation for all DPS characters to have good mobbing skills. This makes Siris a hard sell.
As a fan, I’d say one advantage she has is that her primary weapon isn’t as powerful as alternatives you can farm yourself. This allows you to bypass the weapon banner and still deal most of the damage effectively. And when you think about it, given her declining performance in the rankings, putting more resources into a character on the wane doesn’t seem like the wisest long-term investment strategy.
Verdict: A surprisingly distant third on your DPS priority list, but still decent enough.
Lyfe – Infinite Sight & Nightborne Crown
It’s quite astonishing that they’re allowing you to choose Lyfe – Infinite Sight. To summarize, Lyfe is currently ranked among the top two DPS (Damage Per Second) characters in the game. You’ll actually be able to obtain her through rolling. Her combat abilities are extremely potent against bosses and she’s easy to handle during mobbing. To put it simply, her battle skills will not disappoint. As a hybrid DPS, Lyfe offers great flexibility with support options, ensuring you’ll always have a reliable partner for any situation.
Considering the prevalence of Lyfe’s Infinite Sight, choosing her signature weapon as your go-to option seems like an obvious choice to fully utilize its potential. However, the only potential concern might be the possibility that the newly released Chenxing’s Jade Arc could somehow be even more effective or overpowered.
Verdict: The best DPS on the rerun banner. Highly recommended.
Fenny – Starshine & Heart Hunter
From a gamer’s perspective, here’s my take on it: As a player, who doesn’t love uninterrupted shooting without worrying about reloading? That’s exactly what Fenny brings to the table – more shooting, less reloading! And let’s not forget the bonus she throws in – her special ammo boosts your main DPS’s damage output. So, if you’re looking to strengthen your team, grabbing Fenny and Lyfe – Infinite Sight is like hitting a jackpot, giving you almost an instant top-tier team setup for the anniversary banner.
While Heart Hunter may not be the most significant upgrade compared to other event weapon alternatives, considering Fenny’s extraordinary strength, she undeniably justifies the investment.
Verdict: “We have first anniversary rerun at home,” except it’s as good as the real thing.
Vidya – Agave & Snapshot Ace
Ah, geez. How do I say this.
Agave isn’t exceptional; she could be described as having some flaws. However, she excels in a specific role – breaking parts for advanced Sim runs. Yet, this is more of a luxury feature if you have no other alternatives. If you prefer multitasking while progressing through game content, you can press E and effectively ignore the action as long as your crosshair points towards an enemy. I should note that I don’t pass judgment – everyone has their preferences!
Regardless of the character she plays, you can likely bypass using Snapshot Ace as her signature weapon. The additional damage doesn’t cause parts to break more quickly, and it seems that you are more focused on ensuring Netflix recognizes your continued viewing rather than paying attention to her damage statistics.
Verdict: Premium parts breaker and AFK quality-of-life.
Special Mention: Marian – Riptide & Abyssal Nymph
In simpler terms, Marian isn’t on the special rotation schedule, but she appears during regular rotations instead. This works out well since it doesn’t occupy one of your two important rotation spot selections. However, you’ll still need to roll for her. By the way, have you heard about Enya – Exuvia? If you’re not focused on Marian’s sub-DPS trick, Enya is a far better skill damage support that can be obtained free of charge from the SSR selector, along with several other versatile support operatives. It seems like I’ve been emphasizing this point quite a bit.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but acknowledge that if you’re making the most out of the rerun banner, chances are you might be pulling on up to four different rerun banners at once. On top of that, you could also aim for Chenxing – Jade Arc and perhaps Yao – Nightglow’s signature weapon. If this is the case, it means a significant amount of gacha draws, and unless your wallet is exceptionally deep, it seems inevitable that Marian might be a character I pass over in my collection.
Regarding weapons, it’s either excessively powerful or inconsequential when it comes to Marian. No matter what weapon you choose, it won’t alter her power level. Notably, her signature weapon, Abyssal Nymph, offers a team-wide boost to skill damage. It’s a decent weapon, versatile enough for anyone to use, and the shotgun pool has limited support options. However, this is another gacha banner you might consider pulling on. Given your likely priorities, both Marian and her signature weapon remain in a similar situation, unfortunately.
Verdict: A victim of truly horrendous rerun timing.
