New UK thriller from Baptiste writer reveals first look with One Day’s Ambika Mod

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited to share that Disney has unveiled a sneak peek of their upcoming UK chiller titled “The Stolen Girl“. This intriguing production features the talented Ambika Mod, who captivated us in “One Day“. Can’t wait to see more!

Catherine Moulton, known for her work on the BBC’s popular crime show “Baptiste” and Apple TV’s “Hijack”, has transformed the five-part series from the book “Playdate” written by acclaimed author Alex Dahl.

The Story of the Stolen Child” revolves around Elisa, a mother of two, whose world is shattered when a routine sleepover for her child transforms into a harrowing ordeal.

The story starts with Elisa consenting to allow her 9-year-old daughter Lucia to spend the night at Josie’s place, following a warm introduction with Josie’s mother, Rebecca. However, unbeknownst to Elisa, this seemingly ordinary event will soon escalate into every parent’s deepest fear…

Upon arriving to fetch Lucia, Elisa finds out that the stunning residence was actually a vacation rental. Lucia is nowhere to be found, and both Rebecca and Josie are mysteriously absent. A simple sleepover for her child has now escalated into an abduction case.

A swift and intense search ensues, with Elisa and her spouse Fred becoming the focus of both law enforcement and public attention…

As more truths come to light and knowledge increases, viewers may ponder if it would be wiser for the young girl to remain concealed.

The thriller marks a highly anticipated comeback to television for Mod, who was a key player in last year’s critically acclaimed series “One Day”.

In addition, the ensemble features Denise Gough (known from ITV’s “Too Close”), Bronagh Waugh (recognized in “Unforgotten” and “The Fall”), Holliday Grainger (“Strike”), Michael Workeye (“My Lady Jane”), and Jim Sturgess (“Cloud Atlas”).

The creative team includes Nicola Shindler, known for her work on Harlan Coben’s “Fool Me Once”, ITV’s “Nolly”, and Channel 4’s “It’s a Sin”. She will serve as executive producer under Quay Street Productions. Eva Husson, famous for “Mothering Sunday”, is set to direct.

The Stolen Girl is coming to Disney+ in 2025.
