James Nesbitt and Ruth Jones lead cast of Harlan Coben’s next Netflix series
Actors James Nesbitt and Ruth Jones are set to feature in the upcoming Netflix production titled “Run Away“, a joint venture with renowned writer Harlan Coben.
In the forthcoming eight-episode series, inspired by Coben’s 2019 book, we find Nesbitt portraying Simon Greene, a man whose life spirals out of control when his daughter, Ellie de Lange, abruptly leaves home.
Known primarily for her part in “Gavin & Stacey,” Jones is set to portray Elena Ravenscroft. The actress will be joined on screen by Minnie Driver, Alfred Enoch, and Jon Pointing. Similar to his previous work of adapting several Coben novels, Danny Brocklehurst will take on the role of screenwriter once more.
Regarding the project, author Coben shared that it’s all about family – it explores the lengths we go to preserve our family bonds, the secrets we conceal within our families, and the hidden truths that bind us as a family (according to TUDUM).
Each time you pass by that house, a completely different world lies beyond its door, one we all remain ignorant about, he went on to say. Then, he elaborated on how Nesbitt and de Lange were spot-on in their roles.
Ellie skillfully portrayed the resilience and vulnerability of the character, Paige; her struggles and hidden truths. This role demands a great deal from her, as it requires her to delve deep into the emotional complexities of the character.
As a fellow gamer, let me tell you, Jimmy’s acting range is incredible. He’s got this uncanny ability to make every role feel real and genuine, whether it’s in Netflix’s “Stay Close” or “Missing You.” What sets him apart is his empathetic performance – he feels the emotions of his characters so deeply that you can’t help but feel for him too.
Run Away” is the newest collaboration between Netflix and author Harlan Coben, following a series of successful partnerships such as “Safe”, “The Stranger”, and “Fool Me Once”. Further collaborations on deck include “Caught” and “I Will Find You”.
Filming for “Run Away” will commence in Manchester towards the end of this month. Coben commented, “After working on so many shows there, you truly appreciate its charm. The beauty of the north of England lies in its diversity. There’s a unique blend of ordinary and unusual in the locations up there.
Run Away has no release date yet.
