In the latest development, Molly Vevers, known for her role in “The Rig,” has joined the cast of “Call the Midwife.” In a sneak peek at episode four, Vevers was seen introducing herself to Sister Julienne (portrayed by Jenny Agutter) as Sister Catherine Cantwell. It appears that this newcomer will be staying with the series for some time.
Vevers makes her first appearance following her involvement in season two of the series led by Martin Compston, titled “The Rig“, which aired from January 2 onwards.

On returning for another season Vevers said:
Returning for season two was absolutely thrilling because the previous season ended with such an enormous plot twist. (via East Lothian Courier)
In addition, she mentioned that her character Heather debuted as a fresh recruit in the oil and gas sector during season one of The Rig. It’s wonderful to observe Heather’s growth in this current season.
Who exactly is Catherine Cantwell, the latest addition to Nonnatus House, and where does she stand among the team of midwives? This question arises as Vevers joins the group.

Who is Call the Midwife’s new member, Catherine Cantwell?
Molly Veers is now part of the cast on “Call the Midwife,” stepping into the role of the newly appointed district midwifery trainee, Sister Catherine Cantwell. In addition to her duties as a trainee midwife, Sister Catherine is also a postulant in the Order and has not yet taken her First Vows.
As a gamer, stepping into Nonnatus House feels like I’ve been dropped into an unfamiliar level in my favorite game. The challenges here are different, and at first, I tried to brush them off as glitches, ignoring my calling that seems to echo from every corner of this house.
However, the more time I spend here, the stronger the pull becomes. Nonnatus House is a persistent reminder of the life I left behind, and no matter how hard I try, I can’t shake off its influence. It’s as if it’s programmed to remind me of my past, making every day feel like a level boss fight that I can’t seem to beat. But I’m determined to find a way through, to clear this level and move on to the next one.
As a gamer, I’ve learned to keep my troubles hidden from most of my teammates, but my leader, let’s call her Sister Julienne, is well aware of what’s going on with me.
As Catherine approaches the moment of taking her First Vows, fear grows within her. Is she making the right decision? Can a life dedicated to serving God and strangers truly compensate for the hurt she’s inflicted on those who have cherished her throughout her life? (As reported by The Mirror)

Despite Catherine’s personal struggles, Vevers praised her experience working on “Call the Midwife,” noting: “In my debut episode, I worked extensively with the delightful Linda Bassett (portraying Nurse Crane). I felt incredibly fortunate to have that opportunity during the initial days as she was simply so warm, friendly, and helpful.
“In my first few days, we had a birth to do, which is quite scary when you haven’t done it before.
“But Linda’s just such a calming, warm presence, and she really helped me during that.”
She mentioned that as a nun character, there were many scenes for me alongside Jenny and Judy Parfitt. (As reported by the BBC)
Call the Midwife airs weekly on BBC One on Sundays at 8pm and streams on BBC iPlayer.
