Abbey Gelmi’s Exciting New Role After Welcoming Baby Boy!

Abbey Gelmi is making moves at a new network.

Channel Seven’s sports broadcaster has been chosen to take over as the host of ABC’s Offsiders, a weekly show that delves into sports news and events.

Instead of Kelli Underwood, who has been leading since 2018 and recently announced her resignation, a new host will now take over.

‘I’m thrilled to be hosting ABC sport’s Offsiders in 2025,’ Abbey said in a statement on Sunday.

She went on to say that discussing sports with the quality of panelists regularly featured on the program is not only thrilling, but also a bit overwhelming.

It’s a privilege to step into the shoes of those who have hosted previously, and I’m eagerly looking forward to spending my Sundays mornings together.

Abbey has had many blessing in the past year, after announcing the birth of her second child.

The television host and her AFL star partner Kane Lambert welcomed a baby boy in April.

In an Instagram post, the presenter and her 32-year-old football player partner shared heartwarming pictures showing them gently holding their newly born baby boy.

In a delightful, monochrome snapshot, Abbey exuded happiness as she tenderly tended to her newborn, seated comfortably on her hospital bed.

A different image showed the ex-Richmond standout tenderly looking at his newborn, as he presented his 3-year-old son Louis to his new baby sibling.

In the caption of the photos, the couple revealed their baby’s adorable name – Oliver Herb Lambert.

‘Everyone is happy, healthy and very much in love,’ they added.

During her pregnancy, Abbey revealed she was suffering with hyperemesis gravidarum.

In simpler terms, Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) refers to a situation where pregnant women experience severe, continuous nausea and vomiting.

Sufferers can often be unable to keep food or water down, impacting their daily life.

She mentioned on the Missta Mums podcast that, on average, once a week, she experiences waking up and feeling sick enough to vomit. However, she emphasized that this is much less severe than it used to be.

Each day, no matter what I initially consumed, I ended up retching or vomiting shortly after. Managing a single slice of toast was sometimes possible, but it was always a challenge for me.

Abbey added the condition was at one point so bad she felt like she was dying.

If I were to drink water, it would make me throw up. It might seem like I’m about to die if I didn’t know any better. The weakness and fatigue you feel are quite intense.

Abbey announced her engagement to Kane in September, 2023.

She announced thrilling news by uploading a series of photos to Instagram, as she was preparing for a glamorous red-carpet occasion.

One picture displayed an elegantly adorned Abbey, gracefully gesturing towards the lens to showcase her sparkling diamond engagement ring.

The raven-haired beauty beamed as she proudly flashed her sizable new sparkler.

The lovebirds welcomed their first son in March, 2023.

Abbey announced her joyful news on Instagram, posting a monochrome image showing her holding the newborn in a hospital setting.

‘Louis James Lambert came into the world 8.3.23,’ she wrote alongside the image.

In May 2021, speculations started that Abbey might be romantically involved with the retired Richmond star when they both went to Sam Mac’s book launch in Melbourne together.
