I’m A Celeb AU: Viewers Slam ‘Has Beens’ Cast and Unfunny Hosts

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! Australia premiered on Sunday night.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my disappointment when the show that once captivated me was so swiftly dismissed as “unfunny” by viewers. The celebrity lineup for this season, whom I had high hopes for, were unexpectedly criticized as “nobodies”. It’s a far cry from the stars I used to adore and the camaraderie I once cherished.

In the spotlight for 2025, you’ll find me showcasing alongside Tina Provis from Love Island, Zach Tuohy, a talented footballer, the hilarious Geraldine Hickey, a well-known comedian, the ever-popular Nicky Buckley from television, and social media sensation Max Balegde. I’m thrilled to be part of this dynamic lineup!

In addition, appearing are Samantha Moitzi from Married At First Sight, Shayna Jack (an Olympic athlete), comedian Dave Hughes, and Sam Thaiday (a rugby player).

As your trusted lifestyle guide, let me share with you an exciting update from the world of reality TV. I’ve had the pleasure of following the careers of two standout personalities: Reggie Bird, famously known for his stint in Big Brother, and Matty Johnson, a former Bachelor contestant. These two stars round off our list.

After Chris Brown’s departure in 2023, Julia Morris once more welcomed back her co-host, Robert Irwin, for another round on their show.

Not everyone watching was entertained however, with several sharing their thoughts on X.

One individual commented, ‘Instead of settling for the least shared factor between faded celebrities, why not back Australian actors, filmmakers, and storytellers instead?’

One individual remarked, “That’s the most outdated humor I’ve ever encountered,” and another commented, “Julia’s jokes are funnier to people older than me.

In response, they mentioned that so far, I’ve become acquainted with just four celebrities, which is a record low for them.

One person remarked, “They’re staring at each other, trying to identify who the other person is. I haven’t a clue myself.

‘This has to be the worst selection of so called celebrities ever’ someone else posted.

‘At this stage, Raygun would’ve been a great addition, who are these people?’ a viewer said.

1. “This program was at its best last year, but it’s fallen dramatically since then. I won’t be watching ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia’ anymore.”

2. “Last year, this show was fantastic, but now it’s really dropped off. Guess I won’t catch any more ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Australia.'”

3. “The quality of this series took a nosedive from last year. Won’t be tuning in to ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia’ anymore.”

4. “Last season was the high point for this program, but it’s gone downhill since then. No more ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Australia’ for me.”

5. “The show just isn’t as good as it was last year. I won’t be watching ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia’ any longer.”

The previous year, it was reported that I’m A Celebrity might be canceled, but then a ratings-boosting modification was introduced to the jungle edition of the show.

Last year, it was unexpected that the popular show where celebrities live in a jungle with minimal luxuries would make a comeback. (Daily Mail Australia exclusively reported this.)

A reliable insider claims that Julia Morris expressed doubts about the show’s renewal only after meeting Robert Irwin and joining the series.

Adding the Wildlife Warrior to the reality TV show brought new life following Dr. Chris Brown’s departure to Channel Seven, which revitalized the series.

As a devoted fan, I believe that had Dr. Chris Brown and Julia Morris remained as hosts for the celebrity-focused show, it might not have continued due to certain changes. However, the arrival of Robert Irwin has breathed fresh life into the program. Truly, young Robert Irwin has revitalized the show in an impressive way. (Source)

Additionally, there’s a large number of long-time enthusiasts who have stood by this series throughout its history. I believe returning in January is an appropriate move for the show, as it’s being orchestrated by some fantastic individuals involved in its creation.

It’s beneficial when you’re part of a strong, united team who trusts both the production and the celebrities involved. Behind the scenes, they’re determined to make it work.

An individual who is familiar with the matter stated that ITV Australia, responsible for producing I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, advocated for the show to continue, highlighting 20-year-old Robert as one of its key assets.

‘Robert being a star was obviously a part of that pitch,’ they said.

One factor contributing to the continued broadcast of I’m A Celebrity… was also the unsuccessful revival of Gladiators, which Warner Bros. had attempted to produce.

In 2022, when I noticed a significant drop in viewership for “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” on Channel Ten, they decided to shift the show from its prime-time January spot over to April instead.

They swapped it out for the rebooted version of Australian Gladiators, which had a promising start but struggled to maintain its initial audience numbers.

The debut episode of the show, which was ably hosted by Beau Ryan and Liz Ellis, attracted an impressive number of 395,000 city viewers during the summer season.

Unfortunately, the numbers plummeted to just 196,000 for the second episode.

According to the source, when [I’m A Celebrity] aired in January, it proved successful and laid a strong foundation for Network Ten’s year.
