Scream 7 adds Community star as Sidney’s husband

Community star Joe McHale has joined the cast of Scream 7.

As reported by Deadline, the actor is set to portray Mark Evans, who will be Sidney Prescott’s husband in an upcoming movie. It’s important to note that this character should not be mixed up with Detective Mark Kincaid from Scream 3, played by Patrick Dempsey.

In the seventh installment of the terror series, the character Sidney, played by Campbell, returns following her absence in Scream 6. The actress announced her return to the franchise via a social media post in March last year.

In the movie, we’ll see Courteney Cox reprising her role as Gale Weathers, Mason Gooding playing Chad Meeks-Martin, and introducing Jasmin Savoy Brown as Chad’s sibling, Mindy.

In the popular series “Yellowstone” prequels titled “1883” and “1923,” actress Isabel May portrayed Elsa Dutton. Now, she has been chosen to play Sidney’s daughter in a new role. Additionally, other fresh faces joining the cast include Anna Camp, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, and Sam Rechner.

Just last week, we learned that production for the horror sequel has officially begun. In fact, its director, Kevin Williamson, shared the exciting news on Instagram, even though he humorously claimed, “I’m not allowed to talk about Scream.

He expressed his apologies to Spyglass and Paramount, acknowledging that sharing news about one of the most memorable days in his life was challenging due to its sheer joy. Truly, it was a remarkable day for him, spending it with an exceptional group of talented actors and crew.

As a gamer, let me tell you, they truly stepped up their game and stood by my side throughout our journey. I can’t express enough how thankful I am for this chance, and to Wes Craven, whose spirit was with me all along. The influence he’s had on my life and career is immeasurable. What an unforgettable day!

Initially, it was intended that Scream 7 would be helmed by director Christopher Landon, who is known for his work on Happy Death Day. However, he decided to step away from the project in December 2023, after both Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega had also chosen to leave.

Scream 7 will be released in cinemas on February 27, 2026.
