Jankos on taking a break from 2025 LEC: “I don’t want to play just to be paid at the end of the day.”

Jankos decides to step away from participating in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) 2025 to focus on co-streaming, prioritizing his personal health, spending more time with his loved ones, and offering valuable perspectives as an experienced jungle player.

As a dedicated fan, I’m sharing the news that Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski, one of the top junglers gracing the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) circuit, has decided to step away from competitive play in 2025. Since making his competitive debut in 2013, this seasoned player has been a staple in the LEC and EU LCS, collecting numerous trophies throughout his career.

This year, instead of defending his title as MSI 2019 champion and five-time LEC champion on the stage, Jankos has chosen to venture into a new role within the League of Legends esports community. Rather than competing, he will be representing Rogue as an official co-streamer for the 2025 LEC Winter Split. This position also includes Marc Robert “Caedrel” Lamont, Niklot “Tolkin” Stüber, Kamel “Kameto” Kebir, and other well-known personalities.

A temporary break, not retirement

As much as I’m taking a break from the competitive scene, let me make this crystal clear: Retirement is the last thing on my mind when it comes to professional gaming. I’ve been pouring my heart and soul into this craft for years, and I’m not ready to hang up my virtual controller just yet. I’ve shared my thoughts on this journey of mine over on my personal Instagram and X, so feel free to check them out if you’re curious about where my head’s at right now! #GamingLife 🎮💪🏼

Hey there fellow gamers! You might’ve noticed some changes in my gaming schedule for 2025. Instead of competing in the LEC, I’ll be co-streaming this time around. This offseason gave me a chance to take a long, hard look at myself and contemplate what lies ahead. I’m all about competition, and I have no plans to step away from it. I’ll still be putting in the effort, grinding every day, and staying connected with the awesome community that includes you guys!

— Jankos

Following numerous grueling years of fierce competition, Jankos admitted to feeling drained and opted to prioritize his personal wellness. Despite receiving invitations from LEC teams for the 2025 season, he turned them down to concentrate on rejuvenating himself and chasing purposeful objectives that extend beyond monetary rewards.

Although opportunities presented themselves for me to participate in the 2025 LEC season, I declined these offers because I was experiencing burnout. This was a choice I made for myself. I don’t wish to play merely for financial gain; instead, I aspire to contribute towards something more meaningful.

Chance to reconnect with family, friends, and fans

Apart from his gaming duties, Jankos underscored the significance of this period for strengthening bonds with his loved ones, an aspect he admits has been challenging due to his professional commitments. He gratefully acknowledged the LEC and Rogue for giving him the chance to co-stream, which allows him to remain engaged in the community while providing a fresh viewpoint as a seasoned player.

I’ve always cherished my ties with League and the LEC, having represented my region for more than a decade throughout my career. For this reason, I am deeply appreciative to both the LEC and Rogue for offering me the opportunity to serve as an official co-streamer.

This chance not only offers me a chance to be nearer my loved ones, who I’ve longed to connect with after years of unrelenting work, but also lets me impart the wisdom and insights I’ve accumulated about League. I’m thrilled at the prospect of sharing this journey with you.

An unexpected reunion with Perkz

For enthusiasts who can’t get enough of Jankos’ gameplay, he will carry on competing in IWillDominate’s stream team, The Ruddy Sack (RS), in the Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC). Alongside him will be his former G2 Esports teammate, Luka “Perkz” Perković.

Although the team prefers a laid-back style, complete with plenty of playful banter, their ultimate goal remains winning. Meanwhile, Jankos will broadcast each match and training session live, giving fans an intimate peek into his gaming and interpersonal dynamics.

2025 League of Legends European Championship (LEC) Winter Split is set to kick off on January 18th. You can catch all the action in real-time alongside Jankos by tuning into his Twitch stream, or join other broadcast teams on their respective Twitch channels. Additionally, you can follow the matches through the LEC’s official channels on Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok.
