Australia Mourns the Loss of Jazz Legend Bob Venier: A Heartfelt Tribute to a Musical Icon
The well-known Australian jazz artist Bob Venier, who shared the stage with Bert Newton and Marcia Hines, has passed away.
On Thursday evening, the renowned musician and notable Australian trumpeter, widely known for his iconic status, sadly passed away.
He began his career in Ballarat before moving to Melbourne where he played with Smacka Fitzgibbon.
From the 70s, Bob spent two years with the ABC Orchestra as a percussionist, followed by a decade-long stint where he switched to playing brass instruments.
In the year 1978, he was part of a modern jazz quartet known as Pyramid, playing alongside musicians David Hirschfelder, David Jones, and Roger McLaughlin.
Additionally, he frequently guest-starred on various television programs such as The Don Lane Show, The Bert Newton Show, Young Talent Time, and the Steve Vizard Show.
In addition, Bob has collaborated with several renowned musicians across various albums, such as Guy Sebastian, Lisa Edwards, Anthony Warlow, Split Enz, and Mondo Rock.
He toured Australia and the USA with the Bi-Centennial Australia Jazz Orchestra in 1988.
Besides film appearances, Bob is known for roles in films such as “The Last of the Ryans” from 1997 and “The Last Days of Chez Nous,” which was released in 1992.
Following the sad news of his passing, many flocked to social media to share tributes to Bob.
