Max George Admits He Was ‘Shting It’ Before Life-Saving Heart Operation: See His Hospital Stay Revealed
I’ve offered a glimpse into my recent hospital experience, where I underwent an urgent heart surgery. (Max George)
In December, the lead vocalist of The Wanted, aged 36, was hospitalized due to problems with his heart. Subsequently, he underwent a procedure to install a pacemaker.
Max managed to get out in time for Christmas, where he’s been recuperating at home with the help of his partner Maisie Smith, who is 23 years old.
On a thoughtful note about his health experiences, Max decided to post glimpses from his hospital stay on Instagram, on a Thursday.
In one video, the performer casually confessed as he headed towards the cardiology room: “I was quite nervous.
In another video, which appeared to be recorded after surgery, Max was seen jokingly grumbling about a troublesome fan nearby and the noisy snoring coming from other patients in his room.
He labeled the videos as: “Reflecting on some of my hospital stays… I had totally forgotten how the nearby snoring lifted my mood the very first night! Thank you, mystery man!
The second video is among a small number that leaves me feeling quite uneasy to watch, yet it strangely feels familiar. It serves as a reminder of my journey.
After Max disclosed that he had been faced with the heart-wrenching choice of writing a will, due to his concerns about potentially not surviving an emergency heart operation.
In a recent chat, the artist shared about the intense anxiety he experienced while being in a hospital ward surrounded by patients much older than him, aged at least 30 years, and revealed that he had set instructions on his iPhone, just in case something unfortunate happened.
He shared with The Sun: “On that initial night, I drafted a will, as I believed I was about to perish. If I could plummet from feeling like the pinnacle of the world to learning that a part of my heart wasn’t functioning, I often found myself contemplating in my mind, ‘What if the other half ceases to function suddenly?’
The artist responsible for “The Glad You Came” shared that learning he required a pacemaker due to malfunctioning lower half of his heart made him understand his responsibilities, as he contemplated the people he would leave behind if something were to happen.
Reminiscing about the frightening and restless initial night at the hospital, Max shared his experience of finding it hard to move and dealing with various other issues such as a feeling of constriction in his throat and taking long, shallow breaths.
Two days following the drafting of his will, Max experienced another bout of panic when his heart rate and blood pressure unexpectedly plummeted. On this particularly challenging day during his hospital stay, the renowned star confessed it to be the most distressing day in his medical experience.
He expressed: That night was incredibly intense, and I distinctly remember feeling as if I couldn’t breathe properly, which intensified my fear. The sensation was akin to being on the verge of death. It was absolutely terrifying, and it evoked strong emotions within me.
Fortunately for Max, he received a new pacemaker a week after being hospitalized. During the procedure, the musician remained aware despite being heavily sedated.
Additionally, he recalled the somber image of the surgeon’s hand stained with blood, withdrawing his hands, while simultaneously feeling a sense of exhilaration at the prospect of finally recovering.
Following his surgery, the lead singer of All Time Low felt overjoyed when Maisie was the one to welcome him back. At that very instant, he remarked that it was then he truly felt like a genuine individual once more, and experienced an emotional sense of being alive.
By that point, my heart was beating strongly, and my pulse quickened significantly. This caused a tingling sensation in my feet, as if the blood was flowing more vigorously. It felt amazing to sense life surging through me once more, similar to saying, ‘Wow, I feel alive again!’ It was a truly wonderful feeling.
It was indeed Maisie who abandoned her theater commitments and hurried north to support him, but surprisingly enough, it was Max’s mom, Babs, who turned out to be a lifesaver due to her prompt actions.
At the point when he started feeling unwell, Max was temporarily residing with a 63-year-old healthcare worker in Manchester. The former footballer experienced fatigue, intense coldness, and discoloration of his hands, turning them blue.
It was actually Babs who decided that Max should visit the general practitioner, even though he himself didn’t consider it a pressing matter at first.
Upon finding myself in an unexpected situation, I felt it was prudent to seek a professional’s advice. So, I reached out to my trusted medical colleague for a second opinion. They advised me immediately that the situation required urgent attention at the Emergency Room.
