Major Star Leaving The Project in 2025

It’s been confirmed that a cherished figure from The Project panel won’t come back to the program in 2025, as Channel Ten is still implementing significant modifications to the structure of the talk show.

It was verified that comedian Michael Hing, aged 39, would not appear on the show this year, as he had been a co-panelist since 2023, but will no longer be participating this season.

Over the past two years, our network has greatly appreciated Michael Hing’s swift humor and entertaining antics during his stint as a frequent guest on The Project. This is as expressed in a statement they released.

Wishing Michael great success on his nationwide comedy tour, we eagerly anticipate seeing him again at our studio during his breaks in 2025.

Additionally, Hing himself shared this information on social platforms, indicating that he is presently concentrating on organizing his forthcoming stand-up comedy tour across Australia, scheduled from February to July.

His most recent appearance on the long-running series was in mid-November.

Starting next month, the network has announced a change to The Project panel, where only three co-panelists will appear each Friday.

In 2025, The Project will have a new approach on Fridays! Starting from late February, you can join Rove McManus, Georgie Tunny, and Susie Youssef at The Project’s desk every Friday evening as we bid farewell to the work week and welcome the weekend festivities.

Prepare yourself for the same delightful mix of humor, charisma, and up-to-date information, but with an expanded area for the unpredictable, impromptu interactions that a Friday evening often fosters. It’s the ideal wrap-up to the workweek.

As a lifestyle expert, I find myself analyzing recent developments in the world of entertainment. While the network hasn’t disclosed the specific reasons, it appears they are adjusting their panel, possibly as a cost-saving measure that aligns with Rove McManus’ commitment to transform Friday episodes into less news-centric programs.

Since its inception back in 2009, I’ve had the privilege of being deeply entwined with The Project. My role expanded beyond just a simple follower as I contributed significantly to its birth through my production company, Roving Enterprises. To this day, I continue to play an active part in its evolution and development.

In October, the experienced host revealed significant plans for his continued tenure on the popular Channel Ten news program during an uncommon one-on-one conversation.

During an open conversation on the That’s Showbiz, Baby podcast hosted by Jordy Lucas and Alexandria Funnell, they inquired about the comedian’s future endeavors.

After revealing he was involved in multiple projects, the three-time Gold Logie recipient playfully hinted that his position at The Project might turn out to be long-term.

Over time, Rove has frequently appeared as a guest host on the program. To his surprise, his return in 2023 led to a longer-term role that he hadn’t anticipated.

He explained that he unexpectedly returned to it. The choice wasn’t his own; he was invited and felt he was merely covering a temporary position towards the end of the previous year.

After that, it seemed as if the question arose: “Shall we continue onward into this year?” Now, our conversation has moved on to discussing the upcoming year.

Just last week, it was announced that starting in 2025, the full episodes of The Project will be made available on YouTube by Channel Ten.

The producers announced a significant alteration through a post on their social media platform, providing a link to the show’s specific YouTube channel for more details.

‘New for 2025: You can watch The Project in full on You Tube,’ the network announcement said.

In a recent broadcast, viewers were able to watch in entirety a program that included coverage of the Golden Globes awards ceremony and stand-up comedy by Akmal Saleh.

The well-known current affairs show frequently shares clips and segments from its episodes on popular social media platforms such as X and Instagram, drawing significant attention online.

The panel show has also undergone an audience decline ever since changing up its format.

The struggle with ratings aligns with increasing controversy over The Project’s perceived left-wing leanings, as well as the departures of notable personalities such as Carrie Bickmore, Peter Helliar, and Lisa Wilkinson.
