Special Forces
Trista Sutter explained the unexpected reason behind her departure from Fox’s popular show, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, where famous personalities undergo rigorous training guided by a top-tier group of former Special Forces agents.
The initial Bachelorette star, aged 52, who departed during the third season following Stephen Baldwin, Ali Fedotowsky, and Denise Richards, disclosed that she came close to death due to hypothermic shock upon returning from the beach on her first day.
She remembered telling Us Weekly that her lips had turned blue during the ride home, which was quite alarming. She also felt unusually tired at the time, almost exhausted. In fact, it was downright terrifying for her.
She added: ‘My goal was to reach the finish line. Honestly, I didn’t want to merely join the program for the initial payment; instead, I aimed to push myself to my limits.’
In simpler terms, Sutter elaborated by stating that the audience didn’t witness her personal interaction in the mirror room, but rather, it was there where she formed profound connections with Billy (Billingham) and Q (Quarles), on a deeply human level.
She maintained that it appeared to be closer than expected, and then added that she had come quite near to Rudy Reyes, a soldier, whom she initially informed that she felt she might lose consciousness on the beach.
I told him I was feeling dizzy and about to pass out. He asked me what I wanted to do next. I said I wanted a doctor’s help. However, he pointed out that if I saw a medic, it would be considered voluntarily giving up. So, he told me either I had to keep going or leave. I made it clear that I wasn’t ready to quit yet.
In simple terms, Sutter persisted and eventually her determination was acknowledged in the reflective chamber, where she shared that they expressed their pride in her accomplishments.
As a diehard fan, I can’t help but share this thrilling moment when the two-time mom herself pointed out how Reyes acknowledged his initial assumption that she might give up at the shoreline. But boy, was he wrong! His pride swelled when he saw me persistently pushing through!
After getting back from the beach, she explained she took a long shower to warm up.
She recollected that before we resumed filming, I noticed the sequence 444 and I hold faith in angel numbers, guardian angels, God, and all that comes with it. I went into the situation with the understanding or belief that my guardian angels were watching over me. I slept through the night, and then we were awakened by explosions – we all were. At once, a sense of peace enveloped me, thinking, “You’re safe. You’ve gained so much from these two days.” Even though it was only two days, it felt like an entire lifetime.
After her near-death experience, the team cautioned her and the fellow contestants that things would become significantly more challenging should they choose to stay and advance on the program.
She exclaimed, “It was incredibly challenging!” she admitted. “The middle ground — keeping pace with the group, which felt like a third of my body weight — proved to be quite tough. I’m not typically a runner, and those were the most difficult aspects, the tasks that I had looked forward to and believed I performed well on, despite technically failing.
Although her time on the show was brief, she asserted that she regained her self-confidence and discovered that she is capable of tackling challenging tasks when she applies her mind to them.
She admitted, ‘A part of me wishes I hadn’t left when I did, considering everything they’ve been through since then.’ However, she continues to remind herself of the emotions she felt in that moment, the tranquility she experienced, and the personal growth she achieved from the experience and the connections made. She’s trying hard to appreciate all these aspects, but it isn’t easy. Sometimes she wishes she could just shake herself awake and say, “Oh well, forget about it. Move on!
Yet, she acknowledges that she always gave her utmost effort, despite the fact that her best was not quite on par with professional athletes like Carey Hart.
The reality star asserted, ‘I truly gave it my all, and recognizing that they understood my effort held great significance for me.’
She expressed a great deal of admiration for the DS (Directing Staff), and all that they’ve contributed to our nation, as well as others. Having interaction with them was truly significant for her.
Furthermore, she shared with People that there were numerous happenings off-camera that the audience didn’t witness, which left her feeling drained.
This included ‘running with a pack that’s a third of’ her weight and ‘trying to run.’
She shared with the media, “I was attempting to sprint, but I’m not typically a long-distance runner. I have asthma and I’ve been out of practice. Let me be clear, I’m not using this as an excuse. I simply want it known that it was quite challenging for me.
She noted that there were individuals similar to Golden Tate, who at a certain moment during a mission, you could observe he had two bags, one in front and one behind him. I was the one with the bag in front. He was the one carrying me.
1. ‘As we ran towards the vehicles from the bridge, they (Him and Nathan) held my hand,’ she explained.
2. ‘On the beach, Cam sprinted over to assist me in retrieving my pack despite Staff Member Q instructing not to,’ she recounted, adding, ‘but he didn’t listen, saying something along the lines of “I don’t care, I’m going to help her.”‘
Following her emotional limit (or tipping point), Sutter retreated and went back to her husband, Ryan, whom she had met during the inaugural season of The Bachelorette in 2003.
