Disguised Toast organization is leaving the VALORANT Challengers League SEA
The secretive group has decided to dissolve its VALORANT team following the announcement that Riot Games has entered into an exclusive streaming agreement with SOOP.
2023 saw the establishment of Diseguised, an esports company founded by Jeremy “Disguised Toast” Wang. This versatile organization has a footing across various esports titles such as League of Legends, Tekken 8, and VALORANT. However, on January 8, the Canadian live-streamer declared that Diseguised would be discontinuing their VALORANT team.
Disguised: a troubled path
In early 2023, Toast unveiled his VALORANT team lineup comprising Damion “XXiF” Cook, Drake “Exalt” Branly, Amgalan “Genghsta” Nemekhbayar, Joshua “steel” Nissan, and Joseph “clear” Allen. This team managed to secure a spot in the VALORANT Challengers League: North America, but didn’t progress very far in the tournament. Despite subsequent roster changes and the addition of Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker, who was named The Game Awards Best Esports Athlete in 2022, the team failed to achieve significant success.
In July of 2023, the team finished either 6th or 7th during the North American Game Changers playoffs, which signified their exit from the competitive VALORANT scene. However, Disguise returned in 2024 with a revamped logo, merchandise, and fresh goals for the year, such as creating a new VALORANT team in partnership with Bleed Esports.
Conflict with Riot Games
2024 turned out to be a more successful year for the organization. In the second split of VCL Malaysia/Singapore 2024, the team placed third during the group stage. However, they truly shone in the playoffs, taking first place and qualifying for the VCT 2024: Ascension Pacific tournament. Unfortunately, their journey ended in the 7th or 8th position after a loss to BOOM Esports in the competition.
As a gamer, I found myself grappling with some changes this week when Riot Games revealed their partnership with SOOP for the Southeast Asia (SEA) League. Known for their focus on gaming and streaming, SOOP is now taking over exclusive transmission rights for the VALORANT Challengers League SEA. This means that my fellow co-streamers and I may have fewer opportunities to share our insights during the games.
Disguised says goodbye to VALORANT
In simpler terms, Disguise Organization stated that due to unforeseen circumstances, they won’t be able to broadcast their games for a period of 10 months until they qualify for Ascension. Consequently, they decided to leave the league and dismantle their VALORANT team. Notably, Streamer Disguised Toast has remained silent on this matter.
