Australian moviegoers left horrified after scary trailer featuring Mel Gibson is played during Sonic the Hedgehog 3
This week, young Australian cinema-goers experienced trauma following a frightening preview of Mel Gibson’s new film that was shown before a children’s movie.
During the showing of Sonic The Hedgehog 3 at Event Cinemas in Edmondson Park, which is situated in Sydney’s southwest region, an error occurred.
David Campbell, a father of three, shared with News Corp that he and his spouse brought their trio of kids, who are ages nine, eleven, and fourteen, to watch the newest addition to the well-liked video game series.
Yet, the young audience received an unexpected surprise prior to the movie start, all thanks to the trailer of Mel Gibson’s forthcoming film, Monster Summer.
Although Monster Summer shares the same PG rating with Sonic The Hedgehog, it delves into significantly more intense and somber topics.
The movie focuses on a band of youthful companions joining forces with an ex-cop detective to untangle the enigma surrounding a peculiar power aiming to spoil their enjoyable summer activities.
The trailer begins innocently, with the group of children enjoying their summer vacation.
However, events become ominous when the kids are caught on camera secretly entering the yard associated with the character portrayed by Mel Gibson.
The Mad Max star then bursts into frame scaring the children who run off screaming.
Meanwhile, the kids enjoy an evening swim in the lake, but a sinister figure seems to be stirring from the water’s depths.
One young lad sinks beneath the water, then resurfaces with hollowed-out gaze, having gone through a frightening metamorphosis following his underwater experience.
Subsequently, we see a sequence showcasing grotesquery, featuring bursting light bulbs, an autonomous typewriter, and frightened children’s voices.
Mr. Campbell shared with the press that the frightening sequences stirred up quite a fuss, leaving distressed children shrieking and weeping as the preview unfolded.
He stated, “Just now, my wife and I exchanged a look over our children, both of us silently saying ‘What on earth is happening?’ as the preview began.
It was quite surprising, as you were seated in a dimly lit theater with your children, anticipating a heartwarming movie emphasizing teamwork and friendship. However, what followed left us all startled; the kids were peeking through their fingers and clinging to their parents instead.
Mr. Campbell mentioned that he’d listened to comparable tales from parents who’d brought their kids to watch the movie during the summer vacation.
Representatives from Event Cinemas have shared with News Corp their plans to reassess where the Monster Summer trailer is shown, even though it has a PG rating.
The representative stated that visiting Event Cinemas ought to be an enjoyable and lasting impression for every guest. Given recent customer input, we’re actively revising our trailers playing during ‘Monster Summer.’
