Trailer drops for ’90s boyband’s highly-anticipated tell-all documentary
The sky has unveiled the complete preview for the documentary titled “Boyzone: No Matter What” before it hits screens in a couple of weeks.
The documentary will trace the remarkable ascent of the Irish boyband, consisting of Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, Shane Lynch, and the late Stephen Gately, and explore the numerous challenges they faced in the ruthless music industry during the 1990s.
Each band member’s interviews delve into the build-up of conflicts that eventually led to their separation in 1999. However, they momentarily reunited for two brief stints before permanently disbanding in 2019 following a tour celebrating their 25th anniversary.
The preview hints at a significant emphasis on the media’s representation of Gately regarding his sexuality, along with depicting the band’s reactions to his passing in 2009, which occurred when he was 33 years old.
The trailer also depicts Graham struggling with a harmful predicament he terms as “toxic,” and how this adversely impacted his personal life following the disbandment of the group.
Additionally, interviews with the surviving Boyzone members and Louis Walsh, who now serves as a judge on The X Factor, are included in the documentary.
In the preview, he is heard stating his preference for typical individuals as they comply with one’s wishes initially. He also mentions that the group tended to believe their own hype but overlooked the fact that he was the one who had penned it, thereby hinting at some of the strains that developed between him and the band over time.
The recently aired BBC documentary titled “Boybands Forever” in three parts serves as a guide, taking us from the emergence of Take That, traversing the periods dominated by Five and Blue, and continuing further. This new documentary, “The Boyzone Documentary”, focuses specifically on the popular Irish boyband, Boyzone.
On Sunday, February 2nd, the documentary “Boyzone: No Matter What” will be broadcasted on Sky Documentaries. You can also watch it online through Sky Go or NOW streaming service.
