However, after only five years, Lily and Sam went separate ways, and they established a routine where they each spent a full week with their children in a ‘one week on, one week off’ arrangement.

In 2014, during the tour for her third album Sheezus, Lily eventually confessed that she had been unfaithful to Sam. She found companionship with a number of female escorts due to feelings of being adrift and solitary.

This hardship was the unfortunate result of my parents’ divorce, with my mother being renowned film producer Alison Owen. Their separation cast a shadow over my life that I vowed never to let my daughters face – a promise born out of a deep desire for them to experience a more stable upbringing than I did.

It’s not hard to picture her emotional state as she finds herself back at the divorce courthouse following another separation, this time from her second spouse, actor David Harbour.

This time around, their lives are disrupted once again at ages 13 and 12; this disruption might be even more distressing for them since it involves a move to the United States following their mother’s relationship with an American celebrity.

In my fervent fangirling, I can’t help but gush about how utterly smitten these ladies are with none other than the one and only David! Their mom struck up a connection with him on the exclusive celebrity dating platform Raya back in 2019, and just a year after that serendipitous encounter, they tied the knot in a whirlwind Vegas wedding.

Ethel and Marnie, who were good friends, have established themselves in the fashionable Brooklyn suburb of New York, but they may encounter more changes ahead. It seems probable that they’ll relocate back to London since their mother has just purchased an apartment there.

After several weeks filled with rumors, Lily, aged 39, officially announced during her popular podcast titled “Miss Me?” on Thursday that she and Harbour have parted ways.

Speaking with her fellow TV host and close friend Miquita Oliver, she admitted: ‘I’m struggling to find anything engaging right now. I’m not doing well at all. For months, I’ve been talking about it, but things have taken a turn for the worse. I feel like I’m caught in a downward spiral that I can’t seem to break free from. It’s become unmanageable. All I can focus on is the agony I’m experiencing. It’s incredibly tough.’

She also told how she needed ‘time out’ after struggling with panic attacks.

The pair parted ways when Lily found out that David Harbour, a well-known actor from Stranger Things who is 49 years old, had resumed his usage of the exclusive dating platform Raya.

Friends express concern about her welfare now, speculating if she could ever find lasting happiness due to her apprehensive upbringing. They attribute this worry to her turbulent childhood.

In 1985, shortly after the birth of Lily, actor Keith became involved romantically with a woman who was married to a brigadier and lived near the film set where he was working in Dorset. By 1989, his marriage to Alison had ended, and he left her when Lily was only four years old.

According to a friend, Lily experienced multiple relocations during her childhood years. The absence of her father, who was no longer a daily presence in her life, was particularly difficult for her to cope with.

‘Her mother was responsible for raising her, yet having an unruly father made it challenging to grasp concepts such as loyalty. Sticking with anything – be it relationships, careers, bosses or various situations – proved difficult for her.’

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but acknowledge that her persistent uncertainties about her past upbringing were a recurrent concern for the music industry professionals managing her recording journey.

According to a former executive, it was far from simple; Lily often shared the struggles and turmoil in her family background with great candor.

You might find that artists can sometimes have demanding needs, but when it comes to Lily, it often felt as if she was seeking assistance for issues rooted deep in her past.

She would express candidly the depth of her pain, the disappointment she felt towards her father Keith, and the hardships experienced by her mother as well as her brother.

In the thick of it all, I found myself immersed in an intricate web of emotions as our household became a bustling set for Mum’s groundbreaking film debut. With Alfie, my mischievous little brother, adding a dash of chaos to the mix, I often retreated into my own sanctuary – a comforting blanket and my trusted thumb-sucking habit becoming my escape from the whirlwind of activity around me. The world outside continued its relentless pace, but for me, it was a blur, as I watched life unfold from behind the protective veil of my introspection.

At the tender age of eight, Lily stumbled upon her mother in a state of distress, lying on the bathroom floor surrounded by empty alcohol bottles and pill containers. Tragically, she had to be admitted into rehabilitation not long after this incident.

Lily’s sense of being left behind continued into her adult years. In 2015, she expressed this sentiment on Twitter: ‘My father abandoned me when I was four and it still hurts. He was at Latitude while I headlined, yet he didn’t bother to come see me. Over the course of my life, I’ve likely spent more time walking my dogs than with my father.’

Yet, her emotions regarding her father are intricate; she’s not only spoken about the challenging aspects but also shared memories of enjoyable times spent together, such as going to football games regularly.

In her adolescence, she deeply desired to connect with him, so we’d often attend Fulham matches together on Saturdays with his friends. At one point, our relationship was quite strong, she shared in the past.

Beyond football, there’s no denying that Keith’s penchant for nightlife was passed down to Lily. Although she now leads a sober and clean life, an old coworker shared tales of how Lily often sought social interactions, frequently extending nights out as a means to alleviate her feelings of solitude.

At times, the source mentioned that Lily would occasionally invite people collaborating on her music to join her for lively nights out socializing.

They mentioned that she possessed an ability to make one feel as though not joining her for a drink that evening in Soho, or anywhere else, would be a disappointment. It seemed that she craved companionship, camaraderie, and the affirmation she didn’t receive at home during her youthful years.
